No, I dont think you would. At my age you would start laughing and warn me to be careful not to pull a muscle.
I feel a bit bad for Poch, its obvious that this generation bought the hype that they were the golden generation while doing nothing to earn that moniker and as this organization has shown they're incompetent from the top down, the whole GGG fiasco with his firing, then searching the globe for a replacement only to re-hire him was and still is a complete farce. its too bad USMNT does't have the intestinal fortitude to let Poch purge this prima donna generation and let him work and grow the new guys coming up and that haven't been polluted by these egotistical players. I know the guys who played today aren't the ones causing the issues but the dark cloud is hanging over them and its affecting everyone that is involved with the USMNT.
Doesn’t help that folks like Jurgen are flapping their mouths. Shut up dude. We’re still recovering from your mistakes. Not gonna watch the lowlights from today. Sigh.
He was the one that wanted players to go to Europe and not play in MLS. IMO, a lot of this entitlement is his fault. Imagine how much better Gio Reyna would be, if he had played every game for 5 years in MLS, rather than sitting on the bench at Dortmund.
https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/45498852/christian-pulisic-former-usmnt-critics-way-line my random thoughts, when he says it doesn't hurt him but says its tough, shows to me that it does hurt him and it seems like he is calling out a few of his idols as hypocrites, and why doesn't he name names like his daddy challenged Donovan to do also saying he wanted to play friendlies but not gold cup and Poch wanting all or nothing seems him trying to focus the blame elsewhere and a few of his loyalist seem to have latched on to that and have run with he is just a victim and no one has ever been this scrutinized this harshly in USMNT history and IMO all the drama has been because he is skipping out on the Gold Cup and in the past the Gold Cup meant a lot to the players and region, it was a big deal and it seems that the new generation doesn't have the same passion for the Gold Cup and the region and it rubs the older generation the wrong way and I get it, I used to be passionate about the USMNT and now I can barely be bothered to have it on as background noise.
^The interviews he’s given have made me even more irritated. To be specific this is not how a leader behaves. It’s like a defensive work conversation about how you didn’t show up.
I'm glad I'm not the only one, I was irritated and annoyed and I figured it was be just being a curmudgeon, heck if this is the leader of this generations USMNT, I can see why they have failed miserably as a collective, I'm ready for the next generation I just need someone to tell who that is
https://www.espn.com/soccer/story/_/id/45514458/usa-mauricio-pochettino-christian-pulisic-gold-cup Good for Poch, I hope he stands firm and the USSF backs him and not the whims of players with their own agendas.
Anyone going to bother to watch today? Just saw the starting line up. Tim Ream is starting and captaining the team. It’s 2025.
I've watched most of it. They had a good first half. Was actually impressed with Berhalter. Richards looked good in the back. Luna is smart and works hard, but just isn't quite fast enough to be a top-level player.
Well, they did the job they were expected to do today. It’s hard to be hopeful though. We are going to come up against better teams in this tournament.
these were the "big names" who are missing the tournament, and Tyler Adams and Johnny Cardoso were out with injury/illness and as far who these guys are, they seem to be the guys that are buying into Poch's gameplan and from the starting line up and subs used, there was only three names I was not familiar with and I'd say this is the B+ team only because these are the guys Poch is going to run with till things change when the "A" team starts to whine about how they deserve to be at the World Cup because they play in Europe. its going to be a long tournament and I expect this squad to eventually fall flat but I hope they show out and show the fight and pride that made the Donovan, McBride teams a joy to watch.
T&T was so bad that it is hard to take much from this game. The right back with orange hair had a Galaxy--worthy first half - cost his team three goals before he got pulled at the half. So, while it was fun to see a win, it really doesn't mean much.
Alvin Jones, I think. And then his replacement got horribly embarrassed by both Aaronsen and Wright in the second half within minutes. I picked the right game to return to watching USA - I thoroughly enjoyed their pounding of T&T. McGlynn is very entertaining with his quick and insightful passing - he's scary accurate on long passes. The pick off of the back pass by Luna was unexpected and funny, and they capitalized. I know the competition was off, but we've seen plenty of US games where the team didn't take advantage of their soccer superiority. Good game, USA. I was watching Haiti and Saudi Arabia a little, and they didn't look like much competition. I may be mistaken. We'll see how those games go. Welcome, Gold Cup!
USMNT advances to the knockout rounds, Yay, Nay or Meh? IMO, the game was a slog but they toughed out a win and at this stage its the results that matter not how they got it
Yay! Having fun watching this team that all look like they want to be there. Richards looking promising Mcglynn a pleasant surprise Berhalters set pieces - nice! Aygemang is a hold up forward - haven’t seen one of those in awhile Luna is fun Adams still has class Tillman might be decent Not sure on GK or the rest but some are showing promise which is a good thing and hopefully will light a fire under those that aren’t there. p.s. never once cared about style points. It’s group stage soccer in a tournament - just win.
There was an interesting interview of Tim Ream by Jenny Taft on Fox Sports. He talked about what an honor it was to play for the USMNT. It was never explicitly stated, but it sure seemed to be a criticism of Pulisic.
