That’s not good - we need a result against COL. This was expected to be one of our easier remaining matches.

That Colorado game just got very difficult for us:

The biggest loss by a big margin is (obviously) JDS. His quality and work rate can't be replaced. Making it worse - we have no other decent dm. He will likely be replaced with Kitchen or Carrasco. :(

Assuming good health and no suspensions our back line won't be hurt that much. It will still have good cb's with weakness at ob, like always. Araujo comes in for Feltcher (net positive) and Steres for Gonzalez. Fill out with Polenta and the human sieve Skjllko.

That leaves us picking three mids from from Favio, Corona, Antuna, Efrain, and Cuello. I'm guessing we start the first three and use Efrain and Cuello for depth. Losing Lletget will weaken this group a bit, but not majorly so.

    Antuna also gone.

Although I heard on Twitter that GBS and the FO is trying to work a deal with the national teams to use our players on the first game date, 9/6 and release them before the second game, 9/10, so they would be available for us on 9/11.

Duh on my part. That would likely force Efrain to start and reduce our midfield depth to fumes (Cuello).

Hope GBS's plan to get them released works.

I was about to ask is there any way we can let them play the stupid USA Mexico game, and bring them back for the WAY MORE IMPORTANT Colorado match.

I'm glad GBS is being tough like Bruce was.

Tough like leaving Bradley, Altidore and Gonzalez home for their games.

Yup...Why does Toronto get preferential treatment?

We are in a playoff battle too.

Because Berhalter and Vanney played together with the national team back in the day?

Very nice free kick but also poor goalkeeping. Alvarez's impressive swerve bent it almost to the center of the goal.

Antuna scored the game winning goal for Mexico in the 93 minute against Bermuda in Toluca, Mexico.

Fun news; Alvarez, Chicharito and Jonathan were not called up for Mexico. But former Galaxy player Antuna was (Liga MX-based only camp)

Mexico has had an anti-MLS bias for a long time now but in this case, JDS isn't even starting for us anymore, and Chicharito has been hurt for basically all 2020.

Good point. I thought I heard though they were keeping it domestic-only for logistical / COVID reasons.

I think Tata Martino has removed a lot of the MLS bias. Antuna was getting called up last year. mad MPNumber9 stated above. I think it’s players based in Mexico for Covid reasons.

Wow on Pavon. That's a pretty awesome list of players. Kinda proud!

Plus JDS and Chich are coming off injuries. And Chich hasn't shown good form for a while now. Not at all surprising for all those reasons.

Feltscher and JDS called up to their respective national teams. Can't say we're gonna miss Feltscher, but JDS maybe. Maybe coincidence, but our best run of form came when JDS was not fit. Corona-Kitchen were very solid together so maybe JDS being called up is a blessing in disguise?

Still no word on Pavon though. I really hope we don't have to let Pavon go. With the quarantine laws and the length of this break, our season could basically be all but over in terms of playoffs by the time he'd return.

Bump for Efrain being cap-tied to Mexico.

Sucks for Chucky, that hit was brutal.

I thought Efra was a non factor for Mexico in a game that should have played to his strengths. Mexico was camped out in T&T’s half for entire match. Yet Mexico seemed to be playing away from Efra as the game went on.

poor Chucky. That was brutal. Hope he is ok.
