So we lost in penalties in the end. Lost 5-4 after 6 rounds. Their goalie was like 6' 4" which I think is always a big boost. The Athletic wrote up the players of the tourney and there are like 4 Philly ones and only one Galaxy player, Albert. Here is the Albert write up. Sad we will likely never see him in the first team. Mathis Albert, LA Galaxy | Born 2009 LA Galaxy academy winger Mathis Albert has exploded over the last year and earned a call-up to join the second team in preseason this winter, with which he impressed in a friendly against FC Nordsjælland. Albert’s talent is such that multiple scouts said he is viewed in the same elite class as Sullivan, with one preferring Albert to Sullivan in terms of potential. Another said simply: “He’s Cavan Sullivan without the hype.” The winger is known for his excellent dribbling and ability to turn those moments into goal contributions. Albert, 14, is unlikely to be in the U.S. much longer. He has a French passport, which enables him to move to Europe earlier than most Americans in MLS academies. There are no shortage of teams trying to poach him from France, the Netherlands and elsewhere, sources briefed on the situation say.
Here's a link to a video profiling the top MLS academy players from the tournament. Every single one of them is a dual national, so the possibility we might lose him is not unique. 🌟 10 best MLS academy U-17 wonderkids from GA Cup, including scouts' analysis on...🇺🇸🇩🇪 Cavan Sullivan🇺🇸🇫🇷 Mathis Albert🇺🇸🇭🇹 Neil Pierre 🇺🇸🇯🇲 Jamir Johnson🇺🇸🇦🇱 Adri Mehmeti🇺🇸🇦🇷 Maxi Carrizoand more ⤵️https://t.co/cYopSDsRPT— Tom Bogert (@tombogert) April 7, 2024 The last rumor on Mathis was Borussia Dortmund. He also signed with Nike, though, so, on the one hand, he can afford to make the best decision for his long-term career development, rather than the short-term financial health of him and his family, and on the other hand, there may be some pressure for him to go to a Nike club (which is not MLS or Dortmund)

Placias is a Galaxy Academy alum 2006. He was man of the match in the MLS Next Cup finals last June with U17s (and golden boot for the tournament) and played some with LA Galaxy II in MLS Next Pro during the fall. He left the Galaxy at the end of December to go to North Carolina FC and now it looks like he is signing in Belgium with Westerlo 2006 born striker, Julian Placias 🇺🇸🇦🇷 from North Carolina FC in USL and the LA Galaxy Academy is reportedly finalizing a deal with Belgian side, Westerlo!Per @tombogert pic.twitter.com/Omb9gu08mG— USMNT Report 🇺🇸🇹🇷 (@USMNTReport) April 22, 2024

Yeah I turned off at 2-0. Looked like men vs boys a little bit. How did it end? Wouldn’t be surprised if it was 4 or 5 nil.
I think its more of an "ad" but I think this belongs here. Recently posted to Galaxy's youtube channel

Agree with his point that at that level you have to be very wary that you are actually developing each player and not just building good teams although I understand the two things can work together. But, it doesn't help much if we have very good junior teams that win stuff but win because of chemistry and overall team play. That's good gauge that you are doing something right but you also have to improv on johnny's and pedro's individual skills. That is the entire point of a development system.

U15s won 2-1 and advance to the final on Sunday vs Chicago Fire. I missed all but the last 10 minutes. Man of the match was Medina who scored at least one goal.
Note that Ruben Ramos is playing with the U17s. Kind of not fair, but it is his age group and there is value in fighting for a trophy. Gabriel Arnold is another one in the lineup that often gets VCFC minutes in MLSNP. Philly is probably doing the same thing I would assume And yes, those are the Vanney twins in the starting lineup The starting lineups for the Philadelphia Union and the LA Galaxy for their MLS Next Cup Playoffs U17 semifinal matchup! pic.twitter.com/aBkzN9GJrA— American Ultras Talk (@ameriultrastalk) June 22, 2024
