Vanney thinks we might get some new players as soon as the next few days, which suggests they are domestic or MLS players

Mirable Dictu! A postgame Vanney quote that isn’t overly bland or annoying me! Commence season of unexplained miracles…

We are still in 9th place because St.Louis hasn't played yet. They have a game in hand and we play them at home Wednesday. If we lose that game the season could be done (and without serious reinforcements I don't see how we score a goal). Just fire Vanney now and complete the full rebuild.

The whole Galaxy organization has sucked since Bruce left. Also losing the guy who snagged Keane (what was his name?) hurt us. Since those departures we have been defined by a FO (and FO boss) who are satisfied with mediocrity. It started immediately on Bruce’s departure when we decided to go with Galaxy II players and hiring Onalfo as head coach. And it continued with Klein failing repeatedly and being rewarded with a big contract extension. And as recently as last season we re-upped Vanney after a completely disgraceful season.

I had hoped Kuntz would turn things around but instead he has become just another enabler in the morass of mediocrity. We have fallen so far that I don’t see light at the end of the tunnel. At least not until the FO and manager are replaced with quality soccer people who actually care.

Hope my pessimism is misplaced, but I doubt it.

Well said. I had a whole big post about what I wanted to see from the Galaxy and when I looked at it I realized all the details could be rolled up to one word: ambition.

From 1996 to Bruce’s departure the Galaxy was arguably the most ambitious club in the league. We broke the rules, we built a stadium, we signed Landon, then Beckham and when that wasn’t enough we signed Keane. We had the best media deals, the best sponsorships, we had the most media coverage. We wanted to win everything we could. We wanted to be a super club.

And not all of it worked. Some of it failed spectacularly. Some of it was kind of eye-rolling. I remember bitching and moaning about things loudly. I wanted Tim fired. I didn’t want to hire Bruce. I am guilty AF of being wrong, romanticizing the past, thinking the grass is always greener. I remember just how mad I was during the early Beckham years or the languishing era of Sigi. But through all of that we were ambitious.

I want the Galaxy to be ambitious again and I’ll apologize in advance when the ambition falls short of my expectations and I make angry posts of BigSoccer demanding people’s resignation

Knew the Gs were cooked the moment they said their manager search was far and wide before settling on Onalfo.

Spotify link, but if you need to find it on another format I would highly recommend listening to the passage of the Squadcast that goes over all of the signings we have made since Vanney became our manager.

It is absolutely staggering how many players we have signed for him trying to make it work and how fast we churn through those players. If someone did a similar breakdown of signings for a manager for another team I would be stunned if any of the successful MLS clubs of the last decade have anywhere near our roster churn and turnover.

The Vanney signings breakdown starts around 13 minutes into the episode.

As others have said, it feels like the organization itself has calcified in terms of its ambition. It feels like we are an after thought to AEG now and I think holding on to a mid as hell manager in Greg Vanney for six years now is the greatest example of that.

We have the game this coming weekend versus Dallas then we don’t have a game for 13 days. Hopefully all the new players (whoever they are) are available by then.

If we get crushed by Galaxy the two week break would be a good time to walk Vanney and get a new manager in, if there is a good candidate lined up to take the job that is.

Ain’t gonna happen. LAG FO is a good ole boys club and Vanney has the longest leash ever made for club managers. I believe (fear) he will get until the end of ‘27, at least. If, after getting 2 summers worth of replacements and finally knowing what Puig can or cannot bring, we still suck halfway through the 27-28 season Kuntz might get the cajones to pull the trigger.

But go ahead and do it sooner Galaxy and prove me dead wrong! Please!!

Thank you for the updates Benny, I appreciate you keeping us in the loop

and I'm glad Thommy mentioned to Josh that the injury was "no big deal" and he'll be back "soon" because I'd be worried he'd be out for 2-3 months

Yeah, I mean he probably won't get walked this season. But I do think if we miss the playoffs for a fourth time in six seasons I think the FO and ownership will have to fire him. The atmosphere in the stadium after the last two losses was very toxic and it is clearly starting to have an effect on attendance.

Even for a Wednesday night game that STL match was poorly attended. I think the Hello Kitty merch collab will boost attendance for Saturday, but if we lose that match and keep on losing I think you are going to see the Diggz get very empty.

At that point I think we get a "have mutually agreed to part ways" post at the conclusion of the 2026 regular season.

Losing is absolutely affecting attendance and prices. Last year after the Championship cheapest seat I could buy was $43, for this Saturday vs Dallas we are back to $26 (bringing my daughter). Lots of adverts for family pack deals as well. All the progress we made in 2024 is gone and then some. The G's are basically the Angels right now, a cheap ticket to watch other teams. Waiting for us to have a shirtless section and chants of 'sell the team'.

Good points. I’m not there to see the attendance or ticket prices so didn’t factor that in. Hope you are right.
