Velocity isn't just speed; it's speed with intent. It's movement with a purpose. Every stride carries history. pic.twitter.com/U6UpaGs2N9— LA Galaxy (@LAGalaxy) February 10, 2026 If not for the poor way they incorporated the Herbalife sponsorship, I'd give this 8/10. But the empty space and weirdly centered logo, and off font used, makes this more a 5/10 for me.
Not unreasonable take. I do think that one of Cerillo and Haak will be paired with one of Sanabria or Wynder in most instances (assuming they are all playing well). I think that is plan A for Vanney heading into the season.
The question right now is whether Cerrillo's suspension for the first game of the MLS season is part of the reason Haak is starting out as DM and Cerrillo seems targeted for the CCC lineup (which may stay together for the first two weeks) or whether Haak's position is set for now because they want Garces' speed paired with Glesnes.
From what I've seen so far, if everyone is healthy, I think Haak helps us more in midfield then in the back. Not a lot of data points yet, admittingly.
doyle’s power rankings has us 13th: https://tacticsfreezone.ghost.io/my-first-power-rankings-vote-of-the-2026-mls-season/ LA Galaxy: They should be much-improved, but no team relying on big minutes from Marco Reus, Erik Thommy and Joao Klauss in spots where they need to be match-winners is going to be elite
Hard to argue with that. We haven't seen Thommy in live action with the Galaxy yet, but right now it's not clear that the "first team" midfield trio works better than the "second team" one or that Klauss is significantly better than Nascimento, except in the air.
I just want us to win some home games and make the playoffs. The opener is huge for the morale of the fans. Can't take another year like last.
How would you guys approach the first 4 games? Its critical to win our home league games but I also don't want to fall flat in CCL against a weak team. Maybe a B team in away CCL to get a good enough result to play a C+ team in the return leg? Then we can play A teams in our two MLS fixtures ? It's a challenge this opening schedule. Most of the season (since we're not in league cup or US Open cup will be A team after A team with a week between most games.
Vanney seemed to indicate that we will play a heavily rotated squad for this first round of the CCC. The team MUST get some wins on this opening home stand to get the season started right and banish the demons for of last year, so totally understand using the A squad in MLS. Of course, not sure we know yet which are the A players and which are the B players…
I know 4.5 A players - Paintsil, Glesnes, Pec and Reus, probably Micovic. The rest are a crapshoot. edit: make it 5.5 - forgot Haak.

Apple TV commentators predictions for the Galaxy finish in the Western Conference this season Apple TV's MLS talent makes their predictions for where the LA Galaxy will finish in the Western Conference this season: #LAGalaxy pic.twitter.com/st1pvpy3gr— Alex Ruiz (@AlxRuiz15) February 16, 2026
Cerrillo commenting about the difference in training camp between last season and this season Edwin Cerrillo: "You can feel the different intensity in the trainings... the young guys are stepping up, being vocal, learning from the older guys, and know the guys are willing to teach the younger guys, and I think that's very important, knowing we got to stick together"— Alex Ruiz (@AlxRuiz15) February 16, 2026
If you drop the highest and lowest score and average the rest, the projected finish is 5.69 so sixth place in the Western Conference.
He works for LAFC. He's paid to be their booster Note that in his accounts on X and Instagram, he lists himself as voice of LAFC and his profile picture on X is all LAFC. Nothing wrong with that, but he's basically the Joe Tutino of LAFC
Somehow that analogy offends me. I have always viewed Joe the same way I viewed Chick Hearn, a true fan who isn't afraid call the team and it's players out for poor decision making and poor play. Now maybe Max is like that, but I don't recall him doing it, those few times him I watched him do an LAFC game. Please correct me if I am being unfair.
I think Joe has a little more freedom to criticize players as the years have gone by and he has become a Galaxy institution, while Bretos may not have that standing with LAFC, but I wasn't referring to that. Bretos may criticize a player or two occasionally during his broadcasts as well. I was just referring to the fact that they both are paid employees, rather than this being a situation where Bretos "drank the LAFC Koolaid" as the post I was responding to mentioned.
"Senator, I served with Joe Tutino, I knew Joe Tutino, Joe Tutino was a friend of mine. Senator, Max Bretos is no Joe Tutino".
Joe Tutino has always been the radio voice (and TV voice when we had the Spectrum deal) of the Galaxy, but when we were on Fox Sports, Max Bretos was the announcer for the majority of our games and when you see a lot of our early regular season and Cup success highlights, you'll probably hear him on the call. I was never a radio listener so in those early days I always heard Bretos announcing the games on TV. I can understand him getting a steady paycheck from LAFC and being their advocate now, but 12th place? From a dude that started his career and grew with the LA Galaxy? That's not very unbiased, that is straight up disrespect. It's a level of haterism I'd only attribute to the most fervent and brainwashed LAFC Kool-Aid drinking fans, not a supposed well researched broadcaster.
First power rankings to start the season has us at 14. Seems fair. https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/power-rankings-where-does-your-team-start-the-2026-mls-season
