This thread will be for youth side competitions both men and women. I feel it would be easier condensing instead of having multiple threads, I will be doing the same with the senior thread.

For the men a new coach has been announced.

@edcalvi @La Trucha please sticky this thread por favor.

We have our rivals for the U-20 UNCAF competition which will be prep for the qualifiers. Those rivals are Honduras, Panama and Nicaragua, the competition kicks off on January 19th.

Meanwhile we are beginning to lose ground on potential players to recruit for the youth sides.

Lmao my apologies for posting the incorrect tweet.

Well they didn’t win a game, the best result was a draw against Cuba and win in penalties.

    Results went as follows.
    Panama 3-0 El Salvador

    Honduras 4-2 El Salvador

    El Salvador 0-5 Nicaragua

Cuba 2-2 El Salvador (3-4 PKs)

The Nicaragua result on top of being embarrassing was a double whammy. Francis Castillo who also could have represented us and wanted to was tossed aside by Kiko so he went where they wanted him. He provided three assist and scored a goal in that thumping. The dinosaur thinking of our local coaches will be why we don’t advance.

The girls struggled and did not win one game. The last game they actually had the lead but coughed it up.

    El Salvador 3-5 Haiti

    Costa Rica 2-2 El Salvador

Next up is the men U20 hopefully they fair better.

They began the tournament with a 7-0 beatdown of Turks & Caicos. They followed that up with a 2-2 draw against Guyana they had the lead but gave up a PK in the 82nd. The had the lead despite being down a man since the 48th minute.

Only the first place teams advances so they have to win out to make it.

Do or die for these last two games, specifically today vs Suriname as they seem to be the biggest fish in the pond tbh, drubbing Guyana 4-1 and beating ATG 3-2. Play in 15 min.

picture is the starting 11 for us today.

ES won 3-0, another red card in this game as well in the 70’. (Red for both players, one for each team). Not sure if it’s a discipline issue or a concentration issue, but two in two games is kind of rough.
Last game is on Saturday vs Second place Antigua & Barbuda. It’s another must win game, as while we’re ahead by 1 pt, Suriname play the weakest team in the group in Turks & Caicos. If Suriname win (which they surely will) they’ll have 9 points. Need the win to end with 10, if we tie we end with 8 and do not continue to the last round.
Suriname vs T&C at 6:30 am, ES vs ATG at 1100. Saturday.
Edit: goalscorers for this game for ES were: Christopher Argueta, Nestor Delgado, and Kiano Casamalhuapa. Red card was for Nestor Delgado. We get Daniel España back from his red card vs Guayana.

While Suriname got the (expected) win 7-2, El Salvador did what they had to do and won 1-0 off a dead ball (corner I believe).
The next notes I am paraphrasing from Universo ES from youtube:

ES has suffered this tournament, every game has essentially been close minus the first one vs Turks & Caicos. The GK is a big point, apparently being extremely unreliable. This pushes us to the defense, where we lacked leadership and someone with a good head, and caused problems in many situations (Guyana goals, and Antigua having many break away where ES would be up men 4-2, and we would foul them and give opportunities). Once we lose some attacking options, specifically Nestor Delgado, we apparently struggled. But did what we had to do and on to the final round, where hopefully we can get more reinforcements and have many friendlies to help them prepare correctly.

If anyone is interested (@edcalvi certainly is) Guatemala and Nicaragua both play for their shot onto the next round vs Curacao and Cuba respectively, 5 pm PST. Nicaragua and Cuba are tied at 9 pts, Nica having a +4 GD so a tie gets them through. Guatemala has 9 pts to Curacao's 7, so a tie gets them through as well.

Not our update, but still: Nicaragua lost to Cuba 2-0, Guatemala beat curacao 1-0.
The teams that had bye's were: USA, Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, Honduras, and Dominican Republic.
The teams that join them for the final round are: Cuba, El Salvador, Guatemala, Canada, Haiti, and Jamaica.
total of 12 teams, probably do three groups of four, top two pass with two third place teams and final four to World Cup.

So the youngsters had a camp and quite a couple of abroad names hopefully the trajectory for them keeps on upward because we’ve seen this story that they can’t break through in their perspective clubs.

We also learned our opponents for the U20 Qualifiers.
