I could see that considering that we moved on to his teammate

Sociedad claim it is fitness related.

He might not be back by the 4th game. He's still out with the latest in a long series of injuries... this time his groin I believe. From a fitness & injury perspective, in recent memory, I can't think of a bigger disappointment than Partey, especially when you consider the waste of his considerable potential, in his nearly 4 years at Arsenal. Man would there be some celebration if some schmuck came along and gave us a little bit of money to take him off our hands.

Which begs the question, with reporting that Sociodad hasn’t received a formal offer for Merino, are Arsenal actually interested in signing him?

edit: Romano’s tweet above that negotiations are ongoing would seem to negate my question.

Some French sources are claiming that we have lowered the asking price to 25m euro.

Sociedad are off-loading midfielders Merino & Zubimendi?

Curious about the motivations. Just need more income? Or don't like/rate player(s)? Or player(s) don't like club/mgmt? Or ??

Merino is 28. Probably their last chance to get a nice payout for him.

Merino is 28 and in the last year of his contract. Supposedly he has had an extension on his desk for 1 yr and has yet to sign.

Zubi has a release clause. When we first inquired in Jan they said release clause or not moving and he wasn't keen to leave Spain. I'm guessing he is more interested in a move now and they aren't interested in having the reputation of a club that refuses to allow players to move on for "bigger" opportunities.

They could also probably stand some cash injection like most every Spanish club not called Real or Atletico Madrid.

Situation exactly the same as over a week ago but the fee went down 5m. Imagine how cheap he will be on deadline day.

The whole pickpocketing thing? Man, that was weird by Mikel. I just don't understand it.

My guess, they were just magicians. There are definitely magicians that use that sort of legerdemain in their acts. I seriously doubt he scoured the street for artful dodgers. :D

Dani Olmo to Barca official, wonder if they will have to sell. Seen some Barca fans that aren't happy with the move, see it as another overpay like Ferran Torres and think he and Gundo will take minutes away from young talents like Pedri and Fermin that need them.

The HG players they have sold are pure profit and then they do that long contract amortization thing

They bought 27 more players the last two seasons for over 1b total. Does Clearlake think they need 22 starters like American football?

They are absolutely LOADING up on young players. I get what they are doing but I feel they are fixing to ruin the careers of several of those players purely because they aren't gonna get near enough playing time and historically Chelsea has not been great a developing players via loan deals.
