A midfield 3 of Rice, Ode and Bruno, with Merino rotating through would do absolutely awful things physically to the rest of the league. We would run midfields into the ground and press into oblivion.

And Partey has to go. Absolutely zero faith he doesn't get injured, and the fact he looks spent in preseason is a really bad sign.

Partey’s injury record is there for all to see, so other teams probably have zero faith he wouldn’t get injured, greatly reducing the market for him. So unless Arsenal revert to the policy of buying players out of the last year of their contract, we’re probably stuck with him.

When I think about who Merino is actually replacing in the squad - it's quite a big upgrade

Like the uparmoured, upgunned 1944 Panzer IV vs the 1941 version

The problem is the downgrades on Partey and Jorgy

Jitters, why are Dortmund letting Moukoko go? Wasn’t he their next big thing?

There is a scandal about his age. He might be 4 years older than they thought.

Merino is cheap enough that with Eddie and esr outgoing we can still buy another couple of class players

The Marseille move for Eddie appears to have collapsed, so assuming Merino joins, counting Tierney, Arsenal have 25 senior players. They will have to move players out to make room for new recruits. The snails pace of Arsenal’s incoming. business may be, at least in part, the result of wanting to insure they can move players on before committing to new transfers. One out before one In.

Bruno isn't coming here. The person that started the latest rumor "quoted" Team News and Ticks. The latter then responded to that tweet saying something along the lines of "Interesting, now tell me when I ever said this?"

What’s with that NUFC badge. Something new? Or retro? Either way it’s pretty awful.

ps. I’m happy for him to stay there

I prefer we keep the number of punchable on the roster to a minimum so I'm glad he's not coming here.

I'm trying to think if we've ever bought a player who I truly despised before he put on our shirt, and I can't. The closest I can think of is Gallas. But I didn't loathe him. Wasn't fond of him before he swapped with Cole, but I didn't detest him. Actually became less enamored with him during his time with us.

Oh I don't think he was coming here, and as others have said I am glad he isn't because he is a prick, but theres no doubt that IF we ever had a midfield of Ode, Rice and Bruno it would be insane with the physicality, pressing and technique.

There's been some smoke recently about Arsenal switching gears from Gyokeres to Julian Alvarez due to him not being happy with his playing time at City. Does anyone think there's anything to this? Alvarez would be a great signing as he's premier league proven, can play across the top 4 positions and would seamlessly fit into Arteta's system. I think it's more likely just smoke as I'm not sure he gets any more minutes with us than at City.

I assume its agent talk, haven't seen any credible reports of us being in for Alvarez. I would take him, but I am not sure if he would come to us. I seriously doubt City sell him to us. But he would improve our squad.

His issue at City isn't getting minutes, he gets those, he wants to leave because Haaland starts all the big games not him.

I would take him over osihmen or another massive money player. He works in our system and is a good player but not for anything more than 50

City saw how important it was to our development when they sold us Zinny and Jesus I can't see them making that stupid a mistake again.
