I agree, but I don’t think it will go over well with Liverpool fans.

Aaron Ramsey was also better than Stevie G.

    .
Jitty would probably disagree with you, but I won’t, I quite liked Ramsey when he could stay healthy.

Are u serious about Ramsey? Gerard was better than him for sure and ozil was a diff player

in that period after vieira left gerrard would’ve been immense for us

but as usual here, English players are all shit

When Ramsey was healthy he was a dominant player. He just couldn't stay healthy.

Gerrard was a dominant player for a long time

he’s lampard, Keane, scholes vieira level

he was also better than ozil, but ozil was the best in the world at one specific skill

I suppose you mean that one specific skill was assists?

But man does your post cue up some sarcastic replies! :whistling:

ramsey was nowhere near as good as Slippy G lol.

but of course Gerrard was also not at that ATG level of central mids like Keane or Scholes.

players like Gerard suffer from being able to play a lot of positions and he just never was an elite central midfielder IMO

eg Benitez shifted him to right midfield where he was excellent. Alonso and Mascherano were obviously much better central midfielders than Slippy

ramsey wouldn’t even get in the current arsenal 11. he’d probably be a decent squaddie. i think he would have suited Arteta.

    He’d be a perfect left 8.

First time I’m seeing this Romanian keeper Nita. He’s made some excellent saves today. No idea about the other aspects of his game, but might he be a viable target for #2?

Just looked him up. He's already 36, and only 6'1"

    Probably not.

Nah bro. He was not at the level of those others. Nor was he as great as Ozil.

And how tall is our current #1? ;)

ps. I’m not saying Nita is our guy, but an older more experienced #2 would be absolutely fine in my opinion.

Gerrard was as good or close and a better all round player than ozil

ozil was a luxury ten, he was a great passer and held the ball well but didn’t contribute as much as gerrard for me, he picked up some really shit Liverpool teams in his prime

I almost posted about this. I think the leg break may have altered his mechanics enough that it put extra strain on his hamstrings. If so, you are absolutely right, Shawcross ruined his career.

He was a better all around midfielder than Scholes---easily. Didn't risk a red card every time he went in for a tackle. But Scholes's offensive qualities were better than Gerrard's.

I think he suffered from being such an allrounder.

He certainly was not an elite defensive/holding midfielder like Mascherano let alone Roy Keane, nor as a deep lying playmaker like Alonso and Scholes V2. As an attacking 8 or right sided midfield i think he was quality as you get the best out of his energy levels, passing and goal threat without the downsides of his defensive positioning etc - he really lacks parts of Scholes passing game for example.

IMO he was also a lot better once you got out of the 4-4-2 era where he was often a defensive liability. 07-09 under Benitez he was excellent.
