Can anyone give me any information on these 2 Dutchmen?. Both may be coming to play for Stoke City. Van Es has been playing in Portugal, I think?. And Elshot for Groningen?. Any info would be great.Thanks.
Kurt Elshot is a right back with offensive capabilities. He can also play right midfield in a 4-4-2, but he's at his best when rushing forward all the way from the back.... He has a good tackle, a good cross and decent positioning. I think the style of play in the 1st division fits him well.....
I heard Elshot is staying with FC Groningen. He has one year left on his contract, but insisted that he would be happy to be loyal to Groningen. Ronny van Es played last two years for Rio Ave in Portugal. In his first season he scored about 11 goals (in the second division) and last year he scored four goals at the highest level, helping Rio Ave to claim the 7th spot. Upcoming season he has not been able to sign for a club, although he went on trial at ADO Den Haag, Heracles Almelo and Stoke City. I heard from a friend of him (keeper Kenny Heemskerk of my club FC Lisse) that he went back to Stoke to sort out a contract, but if he does not get a contract between now and monday (no matter for which club) he is almost certain to go to FC Lisse. Before he went to Portugal, he already closed in on Lisse before going to Rio Ave. He is a good striker!
