During Galaxy game, they gave a free good looking shirt to kids that are part of the Mighty-Metro Fan Club. It was nice PR move, pretty nice shirt with new logo etc, almost like a replica jersey. My two boys were thrilled. Need to get more soccer playing kids to the games; There fan base does not include enough youth players.
Yeah, my son is loving the Mighty Metro club thing, too. It is great, as many if not most of the fans in the past didn't appreciate freebies. The sight of DC scum ripping up free t-shirts, etc., when I'd gone through the wrong gate always bummed me out. Last week, we of course missed out on the calendar despite coming in 1/2 hour early (and it was a bummer to see people ripping them up, etc.), but at least he got a really cool t-shirt that he won't let me wash! You need to do the free sign up for your kid/s though; it would be a bummer to go and not get the promotional item, and they stamp the card when it is given. Not to say promotions haven't always been successful for the Metros. I can't count the number of positive comments on my McDonald's scarf. And, of course, there's nothing quite like fighting with a mob for some free soap to provide kids with a wholesome lesson in clean living.
