Kroos was never this involved emotionally in the CR7 era. He's taken on the leadership role very well.

I've also noticed that he's now become more passionate than what he was during the Ronaldo era. Maybe it's the leadership role that has caused this but even when Benz was around you could see how passionate he got during our last min goals.

 

He never had to be a leader. He could be chill with Ramos, Marcelo, Modric and Ronaldo on the field. Casemiro brought his own leadership role as the enforcer.

Same thing happened to Benz when Ronaldo left.

 

He's becoming more Spanish than German.

 

Kroos will be a good coach.

I feel he'd want to retire while still being on top. It's the most Kroos thing to do.

 

I really hope both Kroos and Modri stay for one more year. The younger players will really benefit from their experience and leadership. Stay for one more year with reduced minutes and then they can get a huge send-off next summer.

 

Yeah, I share the same concern. His comeback to the national team for the Euro at home, along with winning two titles this year and the upcoming Champions League title, is the high point he's aiming for to conclude his career. If he retires this summer, I think it will be disappointing. I still hope to see him play for at least another year.

If Kroos decides to move on, his exceptional ability to deliver long sideways passes will be difficult to replace. Before him, we have Xabi Alonso. They both control the backfield liked a quarterback. Among all the young players, Camavinga stands out as our finest deep midfielder. He is a much better defensive player than both Kroos and Xabi Alonso. He is a better dribbler too. I even consider him a better playmaker in the offensive third of the field than the two. However, he needs to develop that sideway long passes.




We can't really tell how much of a long passer he has became by playing next to Kroos.



Kroos does not do anything flashy. He just sits in front of the CBs.... and moves the ball around.
