FWIW, the Washington Post named him its fall HS player of the year, noting: He is expected to pursue professional opportunities in Europe next season. https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2021/12/14/fall-all-met-2021/ (Virginia public schools play soccer in the spring.)
This thread says he is with Loudon United (DC United system) for the time being for a better level of competition. 1525493391949279232 is not a valid tweet id 1526319948464893953 is not a valid tweet id 1526319951220461569 is not a valid tweet id
Good to hear. FWIW I graduated from Landon ~20 years ago and played under the current coach. He told our alumni email group Fletcher is the type of player most coaches will never get the chance to experience no matter how long you do it. Said without question the most talented and complete player at his age he had ever seen. The level of completion is just average though in the IAC so it’s good that he’s developing elsewhere now. As someone already mentioned, Landon is a lacrosse (and football/hockey) centered school.
It seems at least moderately interesting that, if he is in fact negotiating in some way with DC United, that DCU is now led on the field by Rooney, who of course has deep connections to Manchester United, where Fletcher spent some time. You might see a guy like Rooney having a high-profile youth signing on his to-do list.
Fletcher is a very, very, very talented player and the upside is huge. Signing with a look towards getting MLS minutes far before he’d get Euro minutes makes tons of sense for him, that is as long as DC United handles him well…
So I guess this is a trial (mostly in training) for a free transfer thru a mutual ownership group: 1697619449975619657 is not a valid tweet id
