If anyone should go it should be Nowak. At this rate we'll have Thamlin starting up top with revelation and Red&Black in the midfield.

hmmm, on second thought maybe not a bad move.

Am I the only one who has a problem with this?? Look at the roster:

    Adu
    Ara
    Carroll
    Cerritos
    Convey - INJ ?
    Eskandarian
    Gros
    Kovalenko - TESTIMONIAL
    Martins - INJ ?
    Moreno
    Namoff
    Nelsen - NATIONAL TEAM DUTY
    Olsen - INJ ?
    Perkins
    Petke
    Prideaux
    Quaranta - INJ
Quintanilla - INJ/NOT INJ Who Knows????
    Rimando
    Stewart
    Stokes
    Warren

Why bother just stay home at this rate. I hear there will be a two for one special at Dairy Queen on Saturday, maybe we should also excuse Ara and Perkins while we are at it.

Come on. No matter what he has done in his career Stoich was only he as a player/coach for one season. With the missing players from United's roster this is a foolish move by Nowak and United managment.

God, I hope that Dema's playing on Stoitchkov's side.

    I don't know - Red&Black seems like more of a center-back to me... :D

I think he's going so MLS is represented. The greater good and all that. So I think it's worthwhile.

Talk about a tribute to Hristo ... Red&Black running toward the ref when he makes a bad call .... We'll remember Hristo as mild-mannered after that :D

Perfect. Especially since Todd can't finish. He'll fit right in.

The reality is that its good PR and exposure for MLS to have a player participating in this and Dema is the only player to have played wityh Hristo all four years and with their Eastern European connection they were very close, so it makes sense Dema is the rep.

(Let all the leg-breaking jokes being now.)

The timing is bad, from a team perspective, but the big picture here takes precedence.

Thought it was funny that Payne and Kasper "will accompany Dema." How magnanimous of them to volunteer for this tough duty!

The only thing I worry about is that we now have an even shorter bench for Saturday. This is a once in a lifetime event and I don't fault Dema for wanting to go, its just going to make for an interesting lineup.

I'm thinking that both Convey and Olsen will probably be available to play on Saturday so the loss of Kovalenko won't be that big of a deal..

Both Bobby and Benny have been listed as Probable for the past two matches..

When you look at the league table & do the math, DC is 2nd to last in point getting power right now. Sure, it's early in the season, but we might be gaggin' for these points come August...

Can't believe they're taking NE this lightly OR some folks are coming off the injured list this weekend. I'd bet on the latter.

I too understand why Dema wants to go, and why MLS would want him too. The timing is just awful however. I just hope that we really are getting some back from injuires for this match. I would be thrilled to see Convey back out there for us come matchtime saturday evening! We can only hope!

When I read this on the way in this morning, my first thought was that we really need him out there, especially if Benny and Bobby can't go. I don't really like this.

If we lose to the Revs we'll have the worst record in the league, if you count by points per game.

And if we win then we could end the weekend in first place. MLS is a league where a 3 game winning streak can win a division for a team. There is not much difference between the teams. If we get hot at some point we will be fine. The Revs have proved it is much more important to play well in August/Septemebr than it is in May/June.

I guess no one read this far into the article. I'm sure that Dema really wanted to go but I do take him at his word about the team coming first. I am a bit shocked that Nowak is letting him go, but then again it is one game in a mostly meaningless regular season versus an opportunity of a lifetime.

I just hope the Demanator returns and doesn't get picked up by one of the lower tier first division sides...
