usually the athletes who are faster/more athletic than others usually sets the TEMPO in soccer..

however in american football the more athletic doesn't always set the TEMPO on the field

for college athletes not professional athletes ... from watching college sports alot i get the sense that could kind of get annoying

There are a lot of people in Korea who are jealous of English speakers. In Korea, students who fail to learn English have a hard time getting accepted in a decent university. And they have to write their thesis in English. Someone told me that she hated how her friends have a better job than hers because they studied abroad and are fluent in English.

I speak in English to the English speakers in Korea, and if someone told me to stop, I wouldn't apologize. I know a lot of Koreans who don't like English speakers. None of them have successful lives. And they support Moon.

Interesting, that's what I imagined, how sad. I guess this is how competitive society works, it makes people shabby. Forgive my ignorance but what's the link between Moon and these people ?

I think there are plenty of people in competitive societies who don't get themselves irritated at non-issues such as this. It's just a case of people trying to cook up reasons to bring others down.

I've had Koreans (usually drunk elderly men) come up to me and tell me in broken English to stop speaking English in Korea.

I usually oblige and tell em to 꺼져.

As nmsiss have mentioned, Moon is a hardcore socialist. Koreans who feel that they were being "cheated" by the previous system will support someone like Moon. They consider English as one of the obstacles. English teaching in Korea failed to teach the majority of the Koreans (especially before LMB was president), and the English entrance exam is too difficult for them. People who can't pass English can't enter a decent university in Korea. Another thing is that the supporters of Moon's party have been historically anti-American. They consider English as their country being under American influence. People who went to school in Korea when Noh was president were taught anti-American and pro-North Korean ideologies, and Moon is a fan of Noh. I heard a lot of the socialists tell me these things. However, the ones who aren't socialist know that Moon is already ruining Korea's economy. And there are others who are disappointed in Moon. Yesterday, a taxi driver told me to vote for the other party (although unknown to him, I'm a U.S. citizen and can't vote in Korea).

Thanks for the explanations! Off topic but did he implement some socialist policies since he has been President?

she spoke english on korean telecast without an adequate translation to follow. it was clear display of unprofessionalism and inexeperience. whether she was deserving of the criticism she faced (which was very minor to begin with and nothing at all like the article is suggesting) is debateable but placing the blame on jealousy is silly

Read the whole article instead of trolling. The article clearly states that there was a guy translating into Korean. It's toxic people like you who are turning the other members away, and I'm not in the mood for this.

I'm not a non-Korean speaker. I've been living in Korea since I was a kid. English is required to enter the top universities in Korea, which is why a lot of the students are learning English since kindergarten. Also, the Korean university students need to write essays and a thesis in English. I know this because my uncle is a professor. And I helped one guy write his thesis in English.

Some of the major socialist things that he did was to raise the tax on purchasing or selling property. He restricted loans from the banks because he thought this would kill the real estate market and drop prices for some reason. This year, he raised my property tax 30% higher. I believe he did the same to most of the other home owners.

Also, two of Korea's major trading partners are threatening Korea now:

    I'm worried for Korea's future.
