I don't know if if showed on TV but there was a whole section (300 people) waving Korean flags and more Koreans throughout the stadium.

    So that worked

Not only that, but it seemed that everytime Bo touched the ball they screamed.

Good game for him, however we need more Korean in the league. I like Asian players because they are hard workers like the Argentinians.

Hong played well in Columbus, and, well...you can't really blame us for being excited, can you?

How old is that guy?? He looked like the rest of the international players that come over here to finish out their careers and gain citizenship.

The question would be, can you count on a large Korean contingent in a midwestern city over the course of 15 games? If the player is supertaleneted than why worry. At least you are putting someone in the seats.

Depends what you mean by "large." It also depends on whether there happens to be a huge research university in the area. I suspect that The Ohio State University, with nearly 50,000 students, has more than a handful of Korean students and faculty (and their families). I assume that many of the Korean supporters at Crew Stadium on Saturday are connected in some way with the OSU.

You kidding? He's slow and is a fair MLS player at best.

You seemed to forget that Hong is a 4 time World All-Star and he's a Bronze Ball Winner from previous Worldcup. Only MLS player who even compares to his credintial is Hristo Stoitchkov and I remember him as a not too shabby player in his days. Hong was wanted by FC Barcelona once but too bad his K-League team didn't want to sell their star. It's true he's getting up there in age but I predict he'll be a great player in the league for few years. I'm not too crazy about him playing D-Mid. Hong has always been a great sweeper who organized the defense and started counter attack with his great passing. No wonder the press called him the "Asian Beckenbauer".

And once upon a time gazza was great too. Do you still want DCU to go after him?

I agree with whoever said it that Bo is a tad slow to play defensive mid in MLS. Martino sailed past him numerous times in the 1st half and others will too. On the other hand, Bo's technical skills are without a doubt a cut above most MLS players, and from having watched him twice (not a lot I know), he reads the game exceptionally well.

I can see why many want him to play at sweeper where I too think he'd be brilliant. Of course, the Galaxy already have Lalas, so in the short term anyway, it ain't going to happen.

Nice to see all the Koreans in attendance. Will be interesting to monitor how many turn out in every MLS city to see him play, and most importantly, how many turn out CONSISTNETLY to see him in LA.

Except he already had his Green Card well before he signed with MLS.

I would've loved to seen him play in DC uniform. He could've been a great defender for the team and if you've seen our defense play for past few years then you know we could've really used him. Although he might have lost a step, he'll hold up well in MLS. If anyone of you have seen K-League or the Korean national team then you know their style is lot quicker then over here. Regarding Koreans coming to MLS, I don't see any big names coming over here anytime soon. Only Korean players who showed interest to MLS has been Hong, Hwang Sun-hong (retired), and few other former internationals. Most want to come to MLS to learn English so they can gain international coaching license. I heard JPD stating during the broadcast that why there aren't more Koreans coming to MLS. All the younger players either signed with Europeans or J-League (where their pay is much better). The reason why many Koreans will be showing up to games this year is that Hong has been an icon for a while. It's almost like Michael Jordan coming to their town and many who never watched him play want to go see him in person. I don't think there are other Korean players who'll bring people to their seats like Hong. Only other Korean I can see coming to MLS in the future will be Yoo Sang-chul. He was also voted FIFA Worldcup All-Star and he might come in the future to pursue his coaching career.

Lalas vs Bo? Based on what most of us saw this past summer, its a no brainer. However, there is this other theory (which I don't necessarily accept) that you find a way to put the best 11 players on the field.
