Come on guys, who are our best 11 and who should be playing in germany 2006. I honestly prefer kim byung ji as our GK and captain. Bonfrere just mentioned that we shouldn't be slacking off as the world cup is in less than a year from now. He was shocked after he saw the confed cup finals between brazil and argentina and thought that we need to prepare a lot if we want to be competitive in 2006. I think if we pull off a number of good players from the K-league and the foreign based players a balanced mix will be good.
    what do you guys think?

    Lee Woon-Jae

    Park Dong-hyuk Cho Byung-guk Lee Young-pyo

    Yoo Sang-chul

    Kim Doo-hyun Kim Nam-il Park Ji-sung

    Ahn Jung-hwan

But maybe , next year many other playerd have been discovered.
I really like Chung Kyung-ho, he is close to the starting eleven.

    -----------Kim Byung Ji--------------
Yoo kyung Ryul------Yoo Sang Chul------Kim Jin Gyu--
    ---------------------Kim Nam Il-----------------------
    Kim Dong Jin----------------------------Lee Young Pyo
    --------------------Park Ji Sung---------------------
Seol Ki Hyeon-------Park Chu Young-----Cha Doo Ri

This would be nice, but then we are missing Ahn, and Lee dong guk, dong jin would be subbed with Song Chung Guk. Cha would come off and then Jung Kyung Ho. Lee dong guk should come for Park Chu Young.

you are right, i think by end of the EAFF tournament Bonfrere should be clear on which k-league or j-league guy should be in. Such as Cho Jae Jin, etc.

i'd much rather have this, with () meaning substitutes. even though kim byung ji is doing well in K-League, i'd still have to go with Lee and Kim YK when it comes to real European and S. American opposition.

I whole-heartly disagree there. Park Dong Hyuk has no business being a starter. And Lee Young Pyo is not physical enough (certainly not big enough) to be a defender in a 3 formation defender.

I would rather put Kim Nam Il has the defensive mid-fielder and put Yoo Sang-Chul has the centre mid-fielder.

And i would not start Ahn. Have Ahn come off as the sub since that's what he is best at.

So with all honesty, i really disagree with your lineup there.

    This is mine

    -------------------GK Lee Woon Jae
Yoo Kyung Ryul-----Jo Byeong Guk------Kim Jin Kyu
    ---------------------Kim Nam IL
    Lee Young Pyo-------------------------Seol Ki Hyeon
    ---------------------Park Ji Sung
Cha Doo Ri---------Lee Dong Guk-------Park Ju Young

The defense looks shaky but let's hope the 3 young guns can pull it off. Even though i'm a little bit scared with Kim JK starting.

I know, Lee Young Pyo in the right side? I know, he's been a very very good left side player for PSV, but if i had to choose, i like Seol's left-foot better than Lee.

You are wondering why the captain Yoo Sang Chul is not in starting eleven? I mean, i would put him as a centre defender, but he's not really that great at that position. But still an upgrade over any defenders we have, so who knows. And maybe put Jo Byeong Guk as the left back, taking off Kim JK.

And why Cha Doo Ri as one of the 3 strikers? Simple. Cha Doo Ri spent many years in Germany and is playing in Bundesliga now. He will be rather more comfortable than others and that will give him home field advantage.

first of all, yoo sang chul will start.. hate it or love it. seol ki hyeon at left mid.. oh hell no..disaster written all over it. seol was born to be a winger, and is our best winger at that. lee yong pyo, on the left, for life. ldg/ahn is what we gotta stick with. leave park chu young left-out.

when a team is using a 3 men defense and 3 forwards, left midfeilder is called a wingback and relies more on defense by marking the other team's right winger which absolutely is not Seol's game.

also, left defender in 4 men defense is called a fullback. there's only a little difference between a fullback and a wingback, but it's still different.

Lee Young-pyo and Song Chong-guk were wingbacks during the 2002 World Cup.

toohyper put Seol where Lee Young-pyo played during the 2002 World Cup which is a left wingback.

LPY at left back is a good move. He's like Roberto Carlos-lite, without the pure pace and skill. Oh, and he's Korean, not Brazilian. :-D

Don't have to be physical, just gotta be sound positionally. As a right back in high school, my 5'9" 150lb frame (back in the day) help up just fine against the bigger guys. Soccer is the one great equalizer when it comes to height, strength not so much upper body, but lower. And from the games I seen, Lee is pretty strong downstairs.

Plus, I like the fact that he can deliver decent services to the strikers.

And Seol as a winger, hell no. You gotta be mad to not put him up front! I am not too confident in his defensive marking (since he has none) abilities.

I like the line-up but I would make one change. I would put Park CY at central striker position instead of Lee DG. Granted Lee has been scoring against the weak opponents but have you all seen how many open chances he missed? Lee just don't look like he has that "killer" instinct. I just don't think he's the right man when the WC start next year. Song and Kim really needs to get their health back on track but if healthy, they're my starting midfielders. Seol is kind of a hot-cold player but if he's in form then he's my starting left forward.

Here's hoping Cho "AIR" Byung-guk makes healthy recovery as well. He's the most solid defender in the NT and we need his service more then ever. Also no one here mentioned Lee Kang-jin in the youth team yet. Everytime I've watched him he's looked very solid. Good size and a solid marker. If he and Kim Jin-kyu develop well, we could have solid defense for next few years.

I don't think the players will be able to adopt 4-4-2 formation b4 wc2006 - maybe 2010, if the coaching staff really are keen on bringing about the change.

I think Kim Han-Yun maybe a more solid choice than Kim JK, but of course that remains to be seen depending on the results of upcoming internationals. And I really hope Song CG gets his act together soon (btw, he just got divorced 3 months ago and is going thru some turbulent times, apparently)

    My formation, for now:

    -------------------Lee WJ-------------------

    -------Kim JK-------Yoo KR-------Kim HY------

    ---Song CG----Kim NI----Park JS----Lee YP---

    -------Cha DR------Lee DG-----Seol KH-------

    subs:

    GK: Kim YK, Kim Yong-Dae
DF: Cho BG, Park DH/Park JH/Gwak HJ et c
    MF: Park Jin-Sub/Lee EY/Kim Dong-Jin/Yoo SC/Kim Sang-Shik/Kim Doo-Hyun/Choi Tae-Wook/Lee Kwan-Doo/Kim Jung-Woo etc
FW: Ahn JH, Park CY, Lee Chun-Soo/Cho JJ/Namkung Do/Kim Eun-Joong etc
