Not many, but I'm sure that KDLF will rise to the challenge of finding them ;)

That's unfortunate. But it doesn't seem like he was going to get much more playing time regardless this season. Not counting Marseille's 6-1 aggregate win over Qarabağ FK in the Conference League, it's been three months since Konrad has played a minute for them.

Are there any sites that track injury metrics by nationality? US senior player pool has to be up there with the highest rate over the last year.

It does seem ridiculous at this point, doesn’t it?

When you look at what happened during qualies we should probably be happier than we might actually feel. When you throw Wes’s suspension in there it truly is ugly.

Despite Konrad's lack of playing time, OM are making a good push for the CL next year. A win (at Rennes) and Monaco draw or loss in the next round will clinch the group stage. But I think they have a good chance to make either the group stage or qualifying regardless.

Meanwhile, l’OM lost and Monaco won. They need a draw in their last game to guarantee a CL spot. I guess they can also go through if they lose and Rennes doesn’t win. Rennes has a much better GD though.

Olympique Marseille won today and finished 2nd in the league. They will join the Champions League in the group stage next season.

Konrad didn't make the squad according to what I saw.

Decent season besides the injury. People will harp on the comments from the coach about maturity but he did well for his first season of first team minutes at a high level for a very good team.

Not sure how this works but from what I can figure. Top 4 are Champions League and the next 4? are Europa League. So a top 8 team is interested in him?

Obviously not Real or Barca and very unlikely to be Atletico. That leaves Sevilla (unlikely), Real Betis, Real Sociedad and Villareal (Conference League).

Since Real Betis qualified for the EL through their league placing and also qualified through winning the Copa del Rey, Valencia might be added to that list as losing Copa del Rey finalists.

I'd take any of those except Valencia - there's been too much instability there over the last decade - but the other sides have been doing great in recent years.

After so many great thread titles - no, not all of them mine - fell by the wayside upthread, I think Konrad really needs a change of scenery to change his fortune.

Thought experiment: if Barca were to buy him back, would they essentially get a 50% discount?

Since they will get 50% of the transfer fee that Marseille paid, they'd be paying 50% of it to themselves so, yes, they'd be getting a 50% discount.

Then again, it depends on whether VAT is payable on transfer fees in France or Spain. If it is, the tax they'll have to pay will reduce that a bit.

Of course that deal makes it harder for Marseille to sell, as they only get 50 percent of the upside.

Unless Marseille retains a further sell on clause. Seems to me he did not fit in so he didn't play. This sounds like a way to get him off the books.

Looks like OM will have a new manager.

    Parts ways with Sampaoli:

    Igor Tudor is a candidate:

Losing cup finalists aren't allowed pass-down spots in Europe anymore. Redundant qualification spots all go through the league table.

Real, Barca, Atletico, Sevilla - Champions League

    Betis, Sociedad - Europa

    Villarreal - Conference

The Champions League teams all seem unrealistic, but the other 3 are interesting.
