Ouch..... Sampaoli not happy with Konrad's lack of professionalism.Heard similar things about him during the September int'l window. https://t.co/Ai21Woza9c— Daniel (@DanielSmith1022) March 3, 2022
I can see that. I'm surprised he's played as much as he has even, given how he's performed. There's been some effort and organization issues in the press from him, lack of anticipation/reaction time on offense, and end product's been underwhelming. Definitely some areas for improvement in the offseason to be a bigger part of their plans, if at all. Remember, in spite of him receiving semi regular minutes, they were considering loaning him anyway.
At least he's in the squad for the next match: 👥 𝗟𝗲 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽𝗲 retenu par le coach Sampaoli pour la réception de l’AS Monaco, demain à 20h45 à l’@orangevelodrome ! 🔜 #OMASM pic.twitter.com/hO7IxYdzVT— Olympique de Marseille (@OM_Officiel) March 5, 2022
Yeah, but at the start of the season he was starting, a lot. When a player goes from starter to bench it's a sign that the club would be open to offers, especially with the coach making those kinds of comments
not really the best sales strategy if opening the door for offers.... "as a player too casual and not really serious in the approach of his job." "...his unstructured game, his tactical shortcomings and his lack of professionalism off the field raise questions..... now- let's open the bidding for this USMNT Barca international superstar!"
follow up tweet. of course this could be from any time on any day, and not necessarily "2 days ahead of the opening game of the season, at 6am", but it's out there now... 1. La Masia was criticized for too focusing on Barca style that their graduates have problems to adjust to clubs other than Barca. That may explain Konrad’s struggles partially. 2. Some players never train hard but they turn on few notches for real games. But most of them have to train hard. Konrad doesn’t have the numbers in the game to support NOT training hard. You are not Payet. 3. Need to grow up.
787' in Ligue 1 at 20. That's not bad at all. Dembélé at 20 played 930' for Barcelona total (17/18 season). By the time this season is over, Konrad will have played around that much.
I think that's important stuff to remember- thanks. I'm still concerned with the recent direction, staff comments and lack of PT. but hopefully he gets back in the thick of things for the club.
Doubtful for a young player in the first season at the club. More likely that they are sending a stern message directly to him with this stuff.
Staff comments are not a big deal for me. Young players frequently have discipline issues and coaches usually DO NOT like that and get upset. If he deals with it and improves, no big deal.
It's also important to remember Dembele missed 16 of 38 games with injury and when he had a run of health in the last part of the season he saw significant minutes. https://www.transfermarkt.us/ousman...7&verein=&liga=1&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=

Yet people were surprised he couldn’t get real minutes at Barca and outraged that GB saw him, played him, and passed from then on out, I’ve see this kid play live and think he has something, but there is clearly work to do.
