His first assist of the season. He got a start in this game as well, his first league start of the season, and was subbed off on 72' Out of 11 games he's been eligible for, he's played in 10 of them and got 280 minutes in total
Huh. If he can start a few games in a row, I'm willing to give him a call-up to compete against Haji Wright, Paredes, Paxten, Zendejas, and Cade Cowell at left wing.
Dude needs more than a few games in a row. He's been relegated to the bench at all his clubs for whatever reason(s). I don't have any knowledge as to why he's getting a run out right now, but for me he'll have to keep it up and show he can consistently compete at club before I'll even consider him in a conversation with the rest of those guys, all of whom have been playing (and playing well) for long stretches.
Barring Aaronson, he plays in a league that's far inferior to those guys (BL1, Liga MX and the Championship). Even with Paxten, Utrecht would be formidable title challengers in Switzerland and also play CL and EL quality sides (Ajax, PSV, Feyenoord, AZ, Twente) every other week. They're also either regular starters (Aaronson, Paredes, Cowell, Zendejas) or first choices (Wright) for their teams. KDLF has always had exceptional individual skills but with a marked lack of teamwork or even end-product. If he starts making TOWs on a regular basis, then an MNT callup and some minutes would be a good way of showcasing his improvement. Otherwise, he'll be overmatched in the camp and embarrassed, possibly severely, on the field
I think Konrad is a couple of seasons of good production away from the USMNT. I don't even understand why people think he's in the extended pool. There are several domestic options producing far better than him (for a longer time) before you get to the guys in the pool like both Aaronsons, Paredes, Zendejas etc.
Was just in Switzerland and thought about going to his last game. Too bad I didn't. Hope he's on a big contract -- very expensive place.
It is a very expensive place to live. This is one of the many systematic reasons very few US YA have played in Switzerland. Normally there will be one on loan somewhere in the country, but very few have signed long-term contracts with clubs in Switzerland. There are certain restrictions on numbers of non-Swiss or non-EU players on each team. Unless a YA has a Swiss family connection and goes up through the Swiss academy system, it is just a hard place to get YA to play in for the salaries and the cost of living.
Got his second start of the season Nov. 23. Still has yet to score in Switzerland. Guess that call up is pretty far off. https://us.soccerway.com/matches/20...per-league/fc-lausanne-sport/fc-sion/4390455/
And was relegated to the bench for the next game, against powerhouses Basel, where he stayed for the duration. Out of 15 league games since his arrival, he's played in 13, but only 2 starts. The good news - and it is good IMO - is that he seems to be their go-to impact sub: he's entered 7 of those games on or around 60' and another 2 on 70'. All told, there's only one garbage minutes appearance, if 8 minutes PT counts as garbage minutes
Off the bench today in the 69th minute of a 3-0 Cup (Round of 16) win over Winterthur. Was already 2-0 when he came on.
Makes sense. He'd gone 90' in the two previous rounds against Sunday league-type sides while Winterthur are a fellow Super League team. Reverting to the league pattern of coming off the bench was always on the cards. D2 Bellinzona are next. It'll be interesting to see if he starts that game. If he does, it's could be a sign that they see him as a possible starter after the winter break rather than an impact sub.
4th versus 5th, separated by a GD of one. A start in this kind of game means that he's become more important to the team.
Didn't make the scoresheet in his 62 minutes while most everyone else in the attack did - Lausanne on their way to a second straight 3-0 win. Had a few shots.
