Those rat bastards! How dare they not start Konrad! :D

I’m sure we’ll see him in the 2nd half.

I get the impression Konrad will be loaned out in the winter for more minutes. Also heard rumors Barca view his long term future as a LB

Konrad came in at 80' to help see out a 0-3 Barcelona win, in a game that was decided by halftime.

Next up: @ Cadiz on Saturday; then v Juventus on Tuesday.

If that were the case they have a funny way of showing it, considering he hasn't been playing the position at all and they are in desperate need of healthy fullbacks at the moment. And yes, I understand you said long term. But he is at an age and club where that transition either happens or it doesn't.

A pretty ridiculous rumor. By the way, Konrad plays on the left in attack but he's not left footed. A sudden conversion to LB just isn't going to happen.

There are a lot of LBs that are not left-footed... you have to be serviceable w/ your left but not dominant. That being said... I still prefer a LB to be LF dominant and I too don't think Konrad is going to be moved there. Alba is fine for now and they are going to have plenty of money to bring in a talented LB when Messi departs.

Interesting. Who are three left backs at high profile clubs who aren’t left footed?

Please define a lot. It simply isn't a common occurrence in the professional game. This is quantifiable and not a subjective opinion.

You do not like the words I chose... fine. I just meant that it isn't all that rare to have a LB that is right footed. But I am surely not going to do the legwork to quantify it.

Dest would seem to support both sides of the argument, depending on how much one feels he drops off as he moves from the right side to the left.

It is very rare to have a regular LB (not one pressed into duty there due to injury or depth) that is right footed. I can hardly think of a top level canonical example. Even if you could think of a handful that would make it rare.

Dest isn’t a LB and any team that plays him as such is playing him out of position. He can do a job in a pinch as needed but he’s not a LB.

Would ten Hag, Koeman, and/or Berhalter play a player out of position? Strike that. Would ten Hag and/or Koeman play a player out of position?

I'm completely neutral about the words you chose, I was just pointing out an inaccuracy.

There are not a lot of right footed LB in professional football by any measure. It is a rare occurrence.

It's irrational to claim otherwise, really no one needs to do any legwork.

Arguably the greatest left back of all time, Paolo Maldini, was right-footed. But yes, it's a pretty rare occurrence at that level.

Dest is a righty and his crosses from the left side are not as good.

It’s only “playing him out of position” if you hate the manager. It’s “giving him every chance to show his talent” if you like him.

It’s important to understand that good managers only do good things and bad managers only do bad things, even when they do the same things. It’s one of the fundamental laws of BigSoccer.

Nah sometimes it really is playing someone out of position. Like the time I played Beasley at center back in fifa. It didn’t go well.

I'm hearing Dembele got injured in the last game. Konrad for sure will be on the bench going forward, maybe even getting some league game minutes.
