Who are all the footballers ever to be knighted?

    So far, I know of:

    Sir Alex Ferguson
    Sir Bobby Charlton
    Sir Matthew Busby

(and any not connected with ManU?)

In a bag with a cat.
I think there's a Sir Geoff Hurst as well, but I'm not sure whether or not Bobby Moore was knighted ever.

Because you worship an ageing French sourpuss who'se only at your club because you gave him three times the money he was on in Germany.

    Isn't it obvious? :D

    Billy Liddell....Sir William of Liddellpool.
Has a nice ring to it...!!!

What's the difference between the various titles that footballers have received?

There are various awards. I think it goes MBE, OBE and then CBE, but I'm not 100% sure. People can be knighted (sirs) and made Lords etc., there's quite a lot of these things.

    Wasn't Walter Winterbottom knighted?

    No he wasn't.

He might have been by now, had he not died far too early of cancer.

The newest CM Sorted update for Championship Manager 01/02 has one Sir Les Ferdinand listed.

Someone tell me this is a joke.

    Yes he was, in 1978.

    Others mentioned are:
Stanley Matthews - 1965 (first professional footballer to get a Knighthood)
Tom Finney - 1998 (a criminal length of time in my book)
    Alf Ramsey - 1967
    Bobby Robson - 2002
    Geoff Hurst - 1998
    Alex Ferguson - 1999
    Matt Busby - 1968

Unfortunately, yes it's a joke, but for his services to QPR in the early 90's, I'd canonize him.

    Nat Lofthouse wasn't knighted.
