What exactly does a Technical Director do? Is it a GM light? Is it a super talent scout? I've not been able to figure that out since he rejoined the club.

Have you seen 'The Wizard of Oz'?

    He's like the wizard.

"Pay no attention to the man behind the Curtin...deal."

But seriously, I'll have to ask him next time I see him...in April?

It's almost like having an additional, or back up head coach. He'll likely have some input in lineups and strategy.

I thought he was in charge of bringing players. The Fire has cash...but not even a hint of any good players coming..

So far hes just managed to lose Curtin and Slim while getting the rights to Herron...oh yeah and manage to keep Gutierrez.

    Yawn.

I guess he doesnt do anything by the looks of it.

Technical directors generally take over the on-field tactical planning from the Head Coach / Manager to free him up for other duties. They may have input on signings/transfers but generally aren't responsible for them.

Same old Fire offseason. Not acquiring any players of note to fill obvious holes. Looks like we'll be doing all our signings and transfers during the season again.

We still need a keeper, is Jon Busch still under contract? (ew)

Jon Busch is in Florida for preseason/training 'as far as I know'...maybe.

This is gonna be a season to remember..."and now for something completely different" I am very happy about the new and existing coaching staff, and this will likely be a big departure from the Sarachan era.
