Only new Klinsmann callups are Corona and Gomez, although Zusi and Wondo had only been at Camp Cupcake. Missing: Ream, Lichaj, Kljestan, Beasley, Shea
Is Brad guzan playing consistently is some league? If he isn't , isn't there another Goalie that is consistently playing somewhere that should be called in?
When Guzan played earlier in the season during Given's injury he was very good. Plenty 0f other items of contention before I'd worry about Guzan.
Definitely some surprising omissions and inclusions. After Chandler wasn't called up, I was sure we'd see Lichaj. He was our Gold Cup starter and was starting regularly in the Premier League. Perplexing exclusion. More young players than I expected. I didn't really think we'd see Boyd, Agudelo, Corona and Morales. Apart from Agudelo, all those guys are dual nationals though, so I guess it's good to keep them in the program, even if they don't see minutes. A lot of forwards. Clearly that's where there's going to be the most competition in the camp. Especially since Altidore isn't going to report to camp until the 28th, after Scotland. I like Zusi, but I think Kljestan definitely should be here instead of him.
If I recall he made a pretty bad blunder during that time. I just don't get why Guzan hasn't looked to move and play somewhere.
REPORTING DATES May 20: Agudelo, Boyd, Cameron, Donovan, Wondolowski, Zusi May 21: Onyewu May 23: Gomez May 24: Goodson May 28: Altidore *Michael Parkhurst will arrive either May 21 or May 24, depending on the results of his team’s match tonight. http://www.ussoccer.com/News/Mens-N...g-Camp-Roster-with-11-Additional-Players.aspx
He starred on a team in a position that Zusi played that would absolutely ********ing woodshed KC. But other than that, not much.
What has Kljestan done for the US in any of his opportunities? NOTHING. except score a hat trick in Camp Cupcake.
With all the central midfielders, I think JK will trot out the infamous 4-1-1-1-1-1-1 formation. I'm not sure there is a central mid he failed to call in.
Ditto. No Lichaj is perplexing. Zusi over any other attacking midfielder/winger option (like Beasley or Adu) is perplexing. No Ream is a bit perplexing. You could say that no Kljestan is a bit perplexing but I was expecting that from Klinsi. I am pleased that BOTH Gomez and Wondo will be given the opportunity to show what they can do in camp, though I'd assume that one will have to be cut to get to 23. Boyd is apparently indeed the 2nd choice center forward, which is a bit perplexing but isn't off-the-reservation perplexing. Cameron and Parkhurst (the two biggest successes of the January camp IMO, barring of course Jones who is not "Camp Cupcake" material) get a chance with the full team, which is encouraging considering our CB woes. But you wonder why Ream wasn't even called in...
Lichaj omission is a real head-scratcher. I figured with Chandler out he was #2 in our depth chart at RB and #1 in our depth chart at LB. Beasley, Ream, Sacha - sure they're missing. But how in the hell do you justify the omission of Lichaj? What's the depth chart now? LB: Castillo, Fab RB: Dolo, Parkhurst? Morales? Don't like that at all.
I can't figure why Morales is part of this team, he didn't really even play with the U23s. Adu, Lichaj & Ream are all more worthy than him/Zusi. I like Boyd a lot, he basically carried us vs. El Salvador.
