According to this USL release, Juergenn Klinsmann - yes, that Juergen Klinnsman - is playing with the PDL's Orange Country Blue Star. http://pdl.uslsoccer.com/home/58260.html Juergen Klinnsman and John Spencer (presumably not the same John Spencer who plays for the Rapids) each scored goals for the Blue Star (7-3-0, 21 points). Jason Hotchkin scored for the Seahorses (5-5-2, 17 points). Blue Star jumped on top in the 35th minute when Klinnsman, the former European star, followed a rebound off a save by Seahorses goalkeeper Daniel Benton and bumped the ball off his chest into the goal from 1 yard out. I know he lives in OC so it could be he just wanted a runabout, though why he'd seek to find it playing in the US fourth division raises an eyebrow or two. But maybe, just maybe, he's thinking that the Galaxy stadium he persuaded Old Man Anschutz to build is so stylin' that he'd love to play in it. And, given that the Gals need a strike partner for Ruiz, it kind of makes your mind wander....
i believe the correct spelling is Jurgen Klinsmann known as the Golden Bomber. even the article couldn't get it right. oh, and the chances of him making an MLS comeback? slim to less than none. and I think slim got benched about 5 years ago. besides, he's got WAY too many committments on the International scene to be spending time kicking it with youngsters in the MLS.
I think Klinnsman is just keeping in shape and playing for the love of the game & giving a few pointers to our "reserve" team.
i met jurgen on opening day at victoria street. he was walking around near the south entrance with a friend an his kid. no one recognized him, but i went up, said "hi", thanks for getting the galaxy a tour of white hart lane, then took a picture. he was a bit stand-offish, but that's cool he was there to enjoy the game and the day, not be pestered by dorky soccer fans. - d
klinnsman? i believe he is Jay Goppengen on the Blue Star roster that u can check out on the United Soccer League web site. Juergen regularly trains with the team and he goes very hard when he plays for the Blue Star. From what i have seen, he could defititely help the galaxy up top.

Well "Jay Goppengin" played again, in San DIego this time. Doh! http://pdl.uslsoccer.com/scripts/ru...1:72014+Elements/Display+E+47107+Stats/+23137
jay goppingen whatever his name, he gives the blue stars the opportunity to play with one of the top 10 all time world strikers. How Cool.
He had another goal and assist Friday night against the Gauchos - He sure is playing a lot of footy for someone who is retired. I know the odds of a comeback are slim but I can't help thinking he's getting himself in shape for a return to competitive ball and that said ball will be with the Galaxy. (Hell, because of his American wife, he won't even count as a foreigner.) Regardless of whether he comes back or not, reccoc is right - it is totally cool, and greatly beneficial for the Blue Star players to get to play with a player like Klinnsman.
Re: jay goppingen I remember seeing that hat-trick against S. Korea back in 1994 and most of the kids playing with him probably have that WC as their first soccer memory. It is so cool. I wonder if he drives a Bug to practice
