Ah, yes. I remember that crash well. I was covering both the Courage and Beat, living in Durham with another BS poster -- who was off at the WC at the time of the crash, IIRC -- and being unemployed. Did the crash happen during the WC, or was it prior?
I like my coworkers, but I don't love them. Not enough to live with them. Never mind that I'd ultimately reveal some odd little trait or habit and that would get around the office. Nothing bad, but you know -- little things you do that you don't think are a problem/odd, but apparently, they are? And working in a newsroom is like working with a pool of sharks -- they're always looking for weakness.
In other news, I am lovin' my CSA farm box. I got a small so I wouldn't feel inundated by veggies (and I split that w/ my sister). I like veggies but don't tend to buy them when I go grocery shopping. This box gives me veggies & forces me to think about ways to fix them beyond "chop cuke for salad" I don't normally like squash but sauteed w/ ground turkey, carrots, onions, and drowned in Trader Joe's curry sauce? Yum.
You tell me. The oldest post on the WPS forum (which somehow incorporates all the surviving WUSA threads) is dated July 25, 2002.
Then it was shortly after. The 2002 World Cup ended on June 30. Wow. I can't believe it's been 10 years already.
Pro Tip: Don't attempt to make risotto for the first time the same day you do an upper body work out at the gym. Pro Tip 2: Don't attempt to make risotto for the first time with brown rice.
Peculiar. Just made risotto. No gym, and... well, what's wrong with you?! Arborio at least. Though I prefer carnaroli. Risotto milanese it ended up being.
I've never made risotto before, I didn't have any non-brown rice in the cabinet, and I wasn't going to the store. It is working fine enough (for me) but taking WAY, WAY longer and more liquid. My arms? They are tired.
Yeah. I found the recipe googling for ways to make leek dishes. I'd never made it before and did have some free time yesterday afternoon. But yeah, I'm not making it again. At least not for a long time and not w/ brown rice. It was tasty enough for me. But the stirring over and over b/c the brown rice too sooooooo much longer...
I'm a ********ing idiot. I bought a horse. His name is Oliver. And he is ADORABLE. And I'm SO not going to see Cheno this Friday. I'm a horrible fan. But I think she'd understand that the $300 I'd spend for a car, gas and hotel in ATL will be better spent on board (and supplements and farrier) for my boy.
You have NO idea. We had a lesson about 2 weeks ago. And it was 90% humidity and the temperature was right about 82 -- at 9 a.m. So, we were tired and hot. We had just got through doing some exercises/drills and as we came to a walk, I let out a huge sigh. And he let out a huge snort. I thought my trainer was going to die laughing. I think at that point we both knew he was the right horse for me.
Best EVER in a muli-sport vote. Number 1. http://espn.go.com/espnw/title-ix/top-40-female-athletes/_/num/41
Heya, cloudedmind! It's been, uh, slow. WPS folded and we've all drifted apart in recent months. == M9: Yeah, yeah. Although, truthfully, I kind of wondered about that poll, especially as it pertains to Title IX. Why not just do a Top 40 of U.S. women athletes from the past 40 years? It seemed kind of odd how they put it together.
I was thinking along similar lines. That a large batch of the women they list in their top 40 did not particularly benefit from Title IX (nor were hampered by it's absence) -- Martina, while a great athlete and an American citizen now, didn't grow up in the USA.
Babies, horses, and more babies!! Seems like lots of people have been busy!!! The Olympics are starting soon!!!! How is everyone doing? I saw this commercial... and boy Pia looks old...
