Mookie!! what's up with Kai? I caught a cryptic tweet from her a couple of hours ago, and read Masar's blog... still trying to figure out what they have in common besides Abby....

I realize this may be unseemly of me but I'm hoping Kai just blows shit up now that others are starting to leak bits and pieces. It's always seemed like there's been more to her NT end than what we heard and maybe now she'll let it out.

If only I'd been smart like you. But no, I go and get all hooked, again, and am depressed, again. I had stuff to do this week but nooo.

haha. I'm sure you could make an offer to those two folks that posted in the Masar thread about not wanting their signed jerseys anymore.

My guess is that Kai is going to talk about the fight w/ Saywers or whatever it was that led to his getting canned WPS Year 1 in addition to answering the "Why did Pia cut her" question.

I just hope she's careful and protects herself. She will be the one that takes the blowback & any retribution.

yeah, I noticed this about you.

I was already very frustrated with the league by the end of the season and then my body inexplicably decided to fall apart and I just haven't been interested. Now I'm just kind of sad and bemused.

And now that I'm obsessively following the fallout, I may actually be relieved to watch the pigskin/Madonna mashup come Sunday. Shocking!

It was nothing personal against the league. I was a little bitter, true, especially after the Beat came back and wasn't the Beat, if you know what I mean.

But I think the real problem for me was that I started seeing problems right off the bat. Just little things that rubbed me the wrong way. Something didn't feel right.

And before anyone comments that I'm only saying this because the league has suspended operations: I've been skeptical from the start. Trust me on this. I wanted the league to hang around, if only so new fans wouldn't have to go through what the old WUSA folks did. It's a horrible thing to deal with.

I get the same thing every time a WC/WWC rolls around. People think that I'm nuts. My co-worker, who would follow along with me, has moved on. :( I have an African co-worker, who is so Americanized that he is a fanatic for the pigskin mess. Whenever I give him "updates" on his "team"..he pretends to fall asleep

What a mess the whole league/ Dan/ Fl thing is! I really can't understand a lot of what is happening or who is telling the truth on what. I always want to hear from the protagonists rather than other sources; Masar's blog is so disconcerting and disturbing, that breaks my heart hearing about abuses like this. This Sh*t is going to blow up big in the next couple of days, and I would rather hear about WPS in field stories that drama around it.

So, the perception is that Dan was overpaying the WNT's players and abusing the non-wnt's players on the magic jack's team?

I watched the interview Foudy did with Abby after the Costa Rica game, and WOW, how dissapointed I am now.

    http://espn.go.com/video/clip?id=espn:7513033

To the point stuff starts at 2:25 mark. Foudy asks Abby about her future at the WPS and her answer made me shake my head...
When asked about the possibility of playing by other that Dan

In Latin America, we have a term for people like this: "idolos de barro" how disappointing.

So. tumblr. I don't get it. Not even sure I know how to properly navigate it. Am I too old or just not the right demographic?

I'm very curious as to why the video w/ the Foudy interview w/ Rampone is no longer available on the espn site. She said some reveling things (ie not playing w/ WPS) and her non-answers were also reveling. But Foudy didn't ask her the direct Borislow question that Abby got.

and am I the only one that doesn't think Rapinoe is better than sliced bread?

I give it a couple of hours until this video is down as well. Can't help to think there so much stuff we don't know. Like the x-files, but the WNT version :D
Seriously though... looks like Kai is not saying anything anymore... here i thought she was going to open a different kind of worms; wondering what kind of thing they have against them that makes them remain quiet...they obviously want to talk, but someone comes and makes them shut up.

You just look at it (Tumblr) for hours and daydream and draw inspiration or post with the goal of making yourself seem as cool as possible.

I haven't really seen too much of Rapinoe. I'm immune to the Pia robots.

I wasn't going to come to bs today. My sister has a baby last night and reading about women's soccer can harsh a fabulous mood in no time flat. But apparently I can't quit you people ;)

The last 8months have been kinda crappy but a new life (w/ a full head of black hair) sure helps improve the outlook. Welcome to the world, Guillermo.

Well, at least it sounds like Guillermo will never have to play "women's soccer". Just wait until she has a Gabriella. Then you're really going to have to work hard.

She already has a girl child. A girl child who has declared that she prefers to play basketball though she doesn't object to attending soccer games (as long as it isn't our old lady league -- niece mightily objects to watching me, her mother, and 20 other over30s run around a field. But can you blame her?)

I realize y'all are still in mourning. If not the league, then at least the 2012 season. So, please be patient while I work this out over here and not in the WPS forum. The night I'm referring to was pretty much the night I gave up all hope that WPS would make it.

So, 15, 16 months ago, Nov. of 2010 to be exact, I decided to join in on the weekly WPS chat on Twitter. This was when 2 teams were said to be on the brink of folding. In this chat, I realized two things: 1. Those involved with the league directly (in this chat) had on their rose-colored blinders that were not coming off and 2. The fans (in this chat) were just as concerned with their apparel options at the club webstores as they were with these teams possibly folding. Oh, and there was some random media bashing as well.

Early in the chat I asked why the league had to start off so big, so fast. Why not create something smaller and then slowly build it up over time? Why were big stadiums, TV deals, top internationals (like Marta) viewed as absolutely necessary to get this league going? You know what I got for my efforts? A lot of shit from both sides. The fans laughed 'Oh, you think WPS stadiums are big? Really? lol.' And then the WPS folks were all like, 'What do you mean, too big? I don't think we're too big at all. We're kind of small compared to WUSA or MLS, etc.'

So, basically, they thought I was crazy. Talking nonsense. For the record, I'd just like to give a giant ******** YOU to all those participants. Well, the ones who thought I was crazy, at least.

Now, let's look at my Twitter feed from that time, shall we? Please note, especially, the very top Tweet, as well as the bottom 3 Tweets:

I have tons of ideas that I'm going to post tomorrow, once I've gotten a little sleep. Well, they're not new ideas, they're the same ideas and thoughts I've had for years. But given the current climate, maybe someone will actually pay attention this time.

:D You are slightly crazy, or brave. Either way your more patient and tolerant than I would be in that situation.

Talking from a European/global perspective on matters concerning WPS, in a American forum for discussion, will always make you sound like a babbling socialist Looney Tune. Your opinions on a few WPS issues are actually similar to my own, so at least I know somebody else is willing to talk nonsense into the wind .

I was in the gym when I found out. My night has gone to hell. I've been blasting "You Give Good Love", "Shoop Shoop", "Saving All My Love For You", "Count On Me", "The Greatest Love Of All", and "Heartbreak Hotel" rocking back and forth. My s**t dropped. :(

And uh, I still refer to her as The Funk BUT she is absolute gold on Twitter! So much so I even made her a Twitter Gold award that I gave to her in Frisco. She let me know via Twitter the day she left DFW that she's keeping it for as long as it holds up. LOL

i'm not sure why mitts would retire, think she is still a serviceable bankup. personally, i think rampone could be around to the next WC. what's the point of her retiring? name me one player on that back-line at this moment better than her, name me someone on another national squad with a motor better than her's after 30? the only person i come up with is ali riley. mitts reminds of lima leaving simone off of the
WC squad, given she would have been an asset to them in the final minutes of the usa game, just doesn't make bubble headed errors. i think boxx is a bit winded.

Other tweets from Mitts indicate that she's looking to have kids after the Olympics. Maybe she knows that she wouldn't be able (or doesn't want) to pull a Overbeck/Fawcett/Markgraf/Lilly/Rampone situation.

Though upon further review of that list defenders have great odds with making the international soccer player/mom thing work. All but Lilly were officially defenders but Lil was no slouch on the defensive end herself.

I agree on Rampone's skill/speed but how long has she been doing this now? Sometimes you just have to go with your gut and go out on top. Move on to a new chapter in your life and live it. Rylie isn't able to travel all the time since she's now in school and Reece will be started up soon enough. Family, it's a helluva drug.

Side note: Ali Riley is awesome. However, she plays for New Zealand so she can't replace Rampone. :p

Boxx is a helluva player. She knows the game well and that's why (even as gassed as she is in some games) she's been a better option than other players on the bench. Her work ethic is highly under rated by most. I think it's another case of wanting to just live life instead of constantly training.

Well, I think the Rampone debate could go on for days, just don't see why she'd call it a day. If there was some sign of downhill play, then I guess so, but she's like the only constant ace on that backline with Buehler falling down all over the place, and Krieger, O'hara and others having problems just clearing balls out the box. It should interesting if she leaves after the Olympics. I've heard people pushing Engen and Sauer. Good teams will part them like the Red Sea. Right now with her in in the lineup opponents are pretty much limited to one goal off the other defenders, and she about kills any attack centrally.
