And as of the time of the day I start this thread, its a mere 435 days until opening kickoff! Awww YEAH!!!!
I love how that logo is SO obviously Mia. I mean, that pose is ingrained in the minds of keepers and defenders everywhere. And now they have to wear it on their shirts. Ha ha.
I'll check in on it from time to time to see how the Charge alumni are doing as they fan out to their new homes. But since there's no team in Philly, I won't be as really involved as I used to be. I wish the league well, because we are better off with a women's league than without one.
It should be Kelly Smith on that frickin logo! She took WUSA professional womens soccer by storm, if it wasn't for injuries, Smith would have won every individual award there is to win. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YgtndnxzvY http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8VJjDF3jjQ&feature=related
Nice try. WPS is a pro-league in the US. Mia is the Michael Jordan of women's soccer in the US. I'm a fan of Smith's. She's fun to watch and I hope she decides to come back over to this side of the pond in 2009. That being said there is NO way Smith would be used for the logo of a league over here. She's British. This is the United States of America. And having a Brit embodied in the logo of an American league ain't happening. It is just that simple.
*Is bitter that the Cali team was placed in LA* That, right there, is a stupid move before the league even begins. I hope I am mistaken, but putting a team in LA is kinda like putting a team on Long Island (NY Power, anyone?). I understand they put a team where US Soccer is now based (Carson), but do they realize people are not gonna sit in that LA traffic to watch soccer? Yeah, yeah, large Hispanic population, etc...whatever. There's a large Hispanic population in San Jose, too, and what came out to watch the CyberRays? A bunch of white folk, mostly. I think the league now needs to act pre-emptively and move the Cali team to San Jose!
So, yeah, like I live in the San Francisco Bay Area, and there was an inch of snow on my truck this morning, and they are expecting 2 inches overnight. I live in the Santa Cruz mountains. It's not supposed to SNOW here! It's kinda cool though! As long as I don't have to shovel my driveway, I'm good with it! Hey, Redcard, I had some good rugby injuries this past weekend. We had a tournament at Stanford...12 teams to one ATC (me)....good times, good times! UCLA girl dislocated her hip, and Western Washington girl had her face busted open....which reminds me....go to my myspace at http://www.myspace.com/rbatc, and link to my friend Bocast...then click on her pics, and click on the "rugby" pics.....second page, first two pics...that's Bocast...I love that girl, even if she does play for Chico! LOL
Nice try. And haven't you been trying to 'cleanse' my posts for what -- 7 years now? (Wow. It has been a long time!) I <3 my Norwegians.
I'll definately look those up this weekend. Myspace crashes my comp here at work, so I can't do it just yet .. But I will! I loves me some blood and gore.
Well, yeah, I knew that about you. After all, you do love Norway, and Espeseth is always getting her head cracked open!
I'm just happy Dallas is getting a team. During WUSA, I depended on watching games on tv since I lived in Seattle. Not even a team in a 3 hour radius of me. So that is why I'm stoked this go round!
Awesome! I'm heading to Lake Tahoe on 2/29 for a week with my family. We go somewhere awesome every spring. I'm counting the days and can't hardly wait. If anyone has any advice or local knowledge about Tahoe, please join me here.
