I really hope he can challenge Brooks, McKenzie and Richards for a starting spot.

Just noting that earlier today Miazga played the first half of a friendly @ Osasuna.

Ended 1-0 to Alaves. There's video of the goal (89th minutes), but won't play unless I switch my VPN but I'm too lazy...

Matt did everything he was supposed to do.

The goal in the 89' was heartbreaking. Betis brought two replacement for the wide AMs in their 4231. Matt covered his well, but Laguardia left his lose.

Matt reacted trying to cover in a desperate last ditch effort, but the pass to the open striker was made.

    0-1 to Betis.

I watched the second half. MM looked good. Had a dangerous corner kick header late but directed straight to the kepper. He also had a nice play where he won the position battle and drew a foul on a dangerous opportunity. He seems to be playing well. Alaves didn't look that dire either. Unfortunately, they couldn't find a goal.

Weird - I saw it quickly on Twitter. Either I read it wrong or it was misreported.

    Sorry for any undue excitement.

It doesn't matter. As long as he's playing well, especially bailing out "the guy who belongs to the team", the scouts will start paying attention and he'll be playing for mid-table side next season.

That's all that we care about,no?

But Cadiz have played 10 and only have 7 to Alaves 6 (and only a 1 pt better GD.) 3 teams with 7 pts. Alaves need to keep picking up points but the bottom of the pack is still pretty crowded.

Elche, Barca, Levante... If they can get 4 pts off those 3 game they could inch out of the reg zone.

I’d get this if Alaves were a top half table side, but I don’t think they can afford to play bench players against weaker teams like Elche when they’re more likely to pickup points against weaker teams.

My hope is Miazga just needed rest (even though this happens less often for CBs). Hopefully that’s all this is.
