(Bless Jovan, but he doesn't belong in the U.S. Team)
Bruce Arena - Dumb Move once again selecting Kirovski to play. A striker who will not produce and does not produce!!!

In a Dumb move you select Kirovski as a striker,...a player who is virtually guaranteed to leave your team without goals. Actually holds your team back from scoring. Even so, you are finally forced by the obvious waste of a position, to substitute Kirovski out of the Turkey game.

Unfortunately this often repeated dumb move of yours with Jovan, has used up all our teams valuable minutes. This dumb move left our team with lesser opportunity/goals which our other strikers repeatedly create.

In admitting you are a dumb ass, on this Kirovski issue, you substitute Kirovski out and bring in "REAL" strikers. You ask these better strikers to fix the wreck you caused in the few remaining minutes after the Kirovski deficit wasted most of the game!!!! Your logic is ASSinine.(on the Kirovski issue)

This type of coaching blind spot causes losses in international soccer. Unless you are playing some B-level exhibition soccer where even Kirovski can pretend to get by with Alibi-Soccer.

    Opportunity Wasted!

    with Kiro --- One goal

He had two shots on goal, and should've drawn a penalty in the opening minute

    w/o zero goals

I have to agree he was poor tonight , hell I can count on one hand the nmber of good matches he has had for the Nats. I think he is a waste of a spot. Bruce has given him more than enough chances lets move on from this stage and give twellman more time and see if he can perform better. The loss tonight was not Kirvorski's fault it lays squarely on the central D they were WAY WAY WAY to slow and left Howard out to dry far to many times!!!!!

I am no Twellman fan but I think he is a better player than Kirovski. I think Kirovski is definitely a waste of space, but I think he was just playing because in a tournament where you play every 2 days, you gotta use your whole roster in the tournament. However, we had to use Mathis and Twellman for some time so they won't be 100% rested on Saturday, but they should be close. If Mathis doesn't start against Brazil, I will be very pissed.

i gotta say that im not a fan of kirovski either but when he has his good games he can be a threat. personally i was happy when mathis came in as he seemed to bring a spark to the attack. one thing that bothered me was to leave bocanegra out of the defense. i my self have to say that he might have made a difference in the def but i could sit here and do that for every player. Just hope that the defense looks stronger against brazil.

    The problem with Jovan is....

He's not that bad, but at the same time he's not that good.

    :p

He can hold the ball somewhat, and he is somehwhat good in the air. He is also decent with the ball at his feet. From time to time he will also score a goal.

In short, if we play him often enough the right circumstances may come along again when he will have an impact. Since I believe he did score against Wales, or was it against NZ that he had a ball bounce off of him into the goal, either way we probably only need to play him 9 or 10 more games before we see the payoff.

    Yeah, right.

Kirovski's service today consisted of 60-yard high balls continuously thumped straight down the middle by the back four.

You want to blame somebody? Look at our midfield that didn't bother to show up until the second half.

    True Scotty.

No arguing against that. Our approach game was horrid.

How can our midfield show up if the sticking defenders are just booming the ball up the field?

whoever said play kiro 9 or 10 more times before he really impacts the game is got a serious problem. he should have been gone a while ago. he has had more than a fair chance. we have much better options than him.

    there we go...

there's a few people on the right track now.

you really just can't blame this guy for getting crap service from the rest of his team all day. hell, you could stick ronaldo on the US nats, and even he would have a hard time scoring goals (though not as much, of course).

How can the defenders not just boom the ball upfield if the midfielders don't show for the ball? You see, chicken and egg.

Kiro is consistently abused on these boards because Arena keeps resurrecting his national career. He obviously sees some potential in the player. I would prefer him to be a faded memory, but I'm no coach, so....

If Arena was stepping down tomorrow and you (anyone) were taking his place as Nats coach and asked for any insight on the players before Bruce left, how do you think Arena would sell Kirovski to you?

How about we all just agree that both the defense AND the midfield were terrible yesterday and leave it at that? God only knows how Turkey only managed to put in two against us.

If Keller was in goal they wouldn't have scored the second goal. That being said, Tim had a pretty good game. He has a very bright future and will learn a lot playing against Van Nistleroy every day.

Im not a Kirovski fan, but he is the only forward that fits into the formation the Bruce was trying to run (4-5-1). The problem was that Mathis and Twellman should've come on together since neither is a target forward and they play off of one another. By the time we got our sh!t together it was too late and Turkey was packed in. Bruce needs to make up his mind.

Personally, I think that without McHead there is no reason to play a target. Let Twellman work hard and Mathis score.

I also think it was very obvious how much JOB contributes to our midfield. Convey is good, but not quite there to be the central mid. JOB and Reyna can control a game. The positive is that we are learing all of this before qualifying.

Not having seen it, was the foul inside the box, or outside? If it was outside, why would anyone be calling for a penalty?

I watched it again this morning, and yes, it was a foul OUTSIDE the box.

It was the Euro announcers who were yelling penalty, and it just went from there. I got caught up in it myself and I was watching the game live. :)
