Japan began the 3-nation Kirin Cup with a 3-1 victory against Slovakia. After taking the lead a minute before half-time, they allowed Slovakia to equalise on 64 minutes, before restoring their lead a minute later. Yanagisawa finished off Slovakia with a goal 10 minutes from time. Next match in the tournament is on Sunday when Serbia & Montenegro take on the Slovaks, before the final match of the tournament on Tuesday between Japan & the Serbo-Montenegrins.
Re: another lecture from mighty japan does this really help us to get ready for asian cup? what's the big difference between slovakia and oman? i think oman can at least run faster than the slovak
Re: Kirin Cup 2004 - Japan win first match Slovakia must suck, Yanagisawa (boomerang boy) scored, that means anyone can score. Nice to see Fukunishi get a goal!
OMG! 2 goals from the FW? When was the last time this happened? Fukunishi 44' Suzuki 66' Yanagisawa 78' And it's good to see the goals didn't need to come from Ono or Nakamura.
Great, Suzuki and Yanagisawa both scored, so we are gonna have to see more and more of them, haha. Did you see Yana's goal? That was a true beauty. Dumb Slovakian goalie was trying to feint or something and he just slid and took the ball. He's pretty good at that, as he also stole the ball from the Oman goalie, only this time he actually scored. Suzuki saved himself with the goal, after receiving a yellow for diving in the first half as well as screwing up several chances. Ogasawara should be playing more!
Re: another lecture from mighty japan Does anyone have link for Kirin cup games brodcasting over the internet?
Starting Lineups Kawaguchi Tanaka Miyamoto Nakazawa Kaji Endo Fukunishi Santos Nakamura Suzuki Tamada Milosevic Lazovic Pantic Maric Ilic Mladenovic Petkovic Jokic Dudic Sarac Jevric Both teams are attacking and creating a number of opportunities. But no goal so far.
15' Japan's corner...came to nothing. 23' Both teams are holding the ball and building up an attack in the midfield. Suzuki was taken down and Japan is given a free kick.
gogo mighty japan!! winning kirin cup is far more difficult than winning euro, olympic, and asian cup.
Nakamura's free kick went straight to Jevric. Nakamura was fouled. Free kick for Japan turned into a corner, which led to Serbs' counterattack. A lot of set pieces for both sides.
serbia is much better than greece and slovakia. good luck to them to rebuild a new team and get qualified for the world cup
Japan conceded 6 goals from set pieces, out of the total 8 in the year 2004. '32 Malic's shot was just wide.... That was their 4th. Japan's defense line is pushing up but can't sneak into the goal. Serbs' counterattack...easily saved by Kawaguchi. They are keeping the Japanese from holding the ball up front.
why is kawaguchi still playing for the national team? shouldn't more credit be given to the others playing regularly in j-league? i like kawaguchi though
39' Nakamura's free kick let Tamada on the far side hit a volley unmarked but Jevric punched it out. Corner kicks for SCG... no prob. Japan's 6th corner.
yeah, Tamada should have scored that one... Stoppage time = 2 min '46 Kaji is down. 1st half is over. HT 0-0
so where's omani spies hiding today? we should be really careful about the trip to mascut. never ever drink water from faucet. bring dozens of rokko no oishii mizu.
i don't understand why mighty japan don't take any u-23 players to china at all. i wanna see ishikawa and tanaka play for the senior side. it's also good for them to get ready for olympic too.
