Wonder if Kim is injured or something....seems like after the asia cup...he's been rotated more often...anybody know?
Technically de Lig (who was rested before) replaced Kim. Tuchel claimed after the previous match that Kim is being rested, so that continued. Dier appears to be Bayern's only fully fit defender...
If Tuchel persists with Dier, he should be sacked immediately for that reason alone. Its looking like Dier will start against Mainz. Wtf, Tucheliban.
Guess tuchel likes dier and de ligt....? Or maybe kim and upa arent fit to play...? Strangely enough, I thought Kim was Bayern's best overall and most consistent CB this season.
Most definitely. Everyone knows what Kim is capable of. There are only a few dominant defenders like him in the world. But the guy has been run ragged non stop for the last 2 years - just so unhealthy for any person. You've got to look at the long game here. Catching this breather to regain his health, intensify his motivation further with Bayern, and establish his personality within this hodge-podge of a group, you're looking at the return of the monster for years to come.
While I agree...did you watch bayerns game today...Dier was at fault for 2 goals lol... What is tuchel thinking...
Here's hoping Dier starts against Arsenal and gets absolutely destroyed. Then Tucheliban can finally end this retarded experiment.
Goes to show, the BL cannot match the pace and power of the Prem. Arteta's entire game plan should be aimed at disrupting Dier. If he handles it? Kudos to him, but if not, he will concede goals because of their pace. He cannot cope.
This whole thing is mind-boggling, imma punt $10 on Dier scoring in the first match so that when it happens I at least have something to hold onto as I question everything I know about the sport
It started off as a meme, but at this point it seems like Tuchel genuinely prefers Dier over Kim. If this continues, I hope another club comes and rescues him.
Lol...and of course Bayern loses 2-0 to dortmund.... Tuchel is leaving this year anyways....new coach will come in and Kim will most likely start. if we are looking at big picture, Kim probably needs the rest anyways...was way overplayed in recent years and lost a lot of weight and etc. when coming to bayern.
As disheartened as I am seeing Dier be chosen over our boy, I can't say with confidence that it's not the right decision. I think KMJ offers more in certain aspects but it's not like Dier is some mid-tier player, in my opinion. That said, Dier's half-life is shorter than KMJ's so I would expect opportunities to try and claim a place in the starting line-up again. I fully don't expect him to start this week vs. Arsenal, especially with Dier's PL experience.
Kim Min-Jae dominated all aspects of dueling (both aerial duels and ground duels) during his time at Napoli, but I do not think the same could be said during his time at Bayern Munich. That is a key component of his game that elevates his general level of play. Whether it is down to his lack of fitness, or the presence of more athletic players in the German Bundesliga compared to the Italian Serie A, or a combination of both, I do not know. However, I do think this is a temporary issue. This season will be a good learning experience for Kim Min-Jae, especially because his physical superiority over other players won't last forever. I do not think much of Eric Dier, but he was discarded from Tottenham Hotspur for tactical unsuitability also (not just individual incompetence), and he does have elements to his game that Kim Min-Jae hopefully can absorb.
What Dier offers that KMJ can't is giving Kane a bff power boost. But even that didn't help that much lately. Outside of CL Bayern doesn't have much to play for anymore this season, and with a lame duck as manager I don't have high expectations that they can beat Arsenal.
The difference in their ball-striking technique is noticeable. Especially if you give Eric Dier the space and time to do so (as evidenced by his set-pieces quality). If Kim Min-Jae can add that to his game, and keep his peak dueling capacities intact, he will have toolkits to be the best player in his position. Otherwise, he can fall prey to scenarios (unfair or otherwise) like this. This is not a statement on Eric Dier, just ask yourself, is Kim Min-Jae superior to Kim Young-Gwon in terms of passing and distribution if given the same level of athleticism?
