I was really excited about this, until I learned that they're doing the same fake bullshit that so many "reality" shows do:

Reality shows are supposed to be real. I refuse to support ones that do that BS.

Don't all of them do that? Granted, this one has substantially more of an issue as the contract each of the parents signed more or less said that the Producers could tell the kids exaclty what to say and they had to do it.

You know, you'd think they would just read some Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn and realize that this was a bad idea.

yea, i have to agree, im sort of embarassed to admit i actually watched the whole thing. boring as all hell is the only way i could describe it. i guess its like a 'survivor' for small people. and they completely over played the gold star thing there at the end. and just how is having a bunch of kids do exactly what this jeff probst wannabe suppose to prove again anyways?

They should have just left them there. With the food and everything and let them go about doing whatever it is they were going to say or do.....

well, as stupid as it sounds, that would be the only way this show would be watchable, if there was utter chaos of kids running arounds with out order and sustaining rules a living by them, you know-the way they marketed the show, but what they actually produce is stupid, its like a childrens game show and belongs on nickelodeon

I watched it with my kids, who are 7 and 8. They absolutely loved it. They were especially intrigued by the choice they had to make between getting a TV and getting more outhouses. Ha. I think they enjoyed seeing how the kids reacted to certain situations. How the slight kid on the town council tried to stand up to the older (and bigger) kid - and cried at the stress of it. Or how hard it was to try to get lazy (or tired) kids to do something (boy, I know that feeling). The reaction (or non-reaction) to bossiness. I thought it was sort of interesting. A lot more pure reactions and none of the caginess you see in adult reality competitions.

I thought their choice for the first gold star (aka $20,000) was sort of an odd one. She did work hard, but she also grated on a lot of people, and the previews indicate that the grating continues.

I think that is a great point. That you are getting very interesting reactions from these kids compared to other reality shows, and it makes it quite interesting to watch. :) Cool to hear kids liked it too.

This show is really a sleeper hit this season. They have done an amazing job andm last night, gave us an insight into whythe one parent who sued might have been motivated - the other kids saw through her daughter's bullshit at trying to lobby for the "gold star."
