I, and several of my close friends, have formed a nonprofit organization by the name of Carry On, Inc. This company is organizing and running a 3 vs. 3 soccer tournament in Chicago this Summer (August 2nd and 3rd) by the name of Kicks 4 Cancer. I realize that this is a solicitation on the boards, but it is for a very good cause (raising money for the American Cancer Society)--and it is related to the Chicago Fire because we have partnered with them to put on this event. (Each participant of the tournament receives a free Chicago Fire ticket for the first Fire game back in Soldier Field, which will be known as "Kicks 4 Cancer Night". A portion of the proceeds from our efforts will be donated to the American Cancer Society. Over 1.3 million Americans are diagnosed with some form of cancer each year. The individuals in our group have been intimately touched by cancer by the deaths of close ones in our families, and would like to help with the effort against this horrible disease in whatever small way we can. We decided we could help raise money for cancer research, while also providing a great soccer event for youths in the community. Please help support our efforts to raise funds by making a donation. You can send your tax-deductible* contribution to me at the address listed below. More information about the Kicks 4 Cancer event can be found at www.kicks4cancer.org. While our event will take place in early August, it is imperative that we raise funds soon in order to enable us to host the event! Whatever you can give will be greatly appreciated as every bit helps in the battle against cancer. I will keep you posted on our fundraising progress. Sincerely, Steve Scherrer To send a donation to Carry On, Inc., make all checks payable to Carry On, Inc. The mailing address is: Carry On, Inc. 3540 N. No Mens Division? How are the Hammers supposed to beat up on Crystal Lake 1 if there is no mens division...
I would love for there to be a men's division and it is something that we had discussed. But we decided we would start small this year and perhaps expand it in the future. Beat up on Crystal Lake 1?? (By the way, we will be known as Crystal Lake United starting in the fall)--What I want to know is, how do the Hammers lose after being up 4-1 at halftime? We were up 4-2 against the Lakers last week before all the tornadoes. If only we had started the second half! Now we'll have to replay the match.
Yes...a blown 4-1 lead...We just didn't give Bradley enough respect, though he doesn't move as well as he used too, he is always in the right position, and if he has time and room, he is lethal. There you have it, 3 crosses unattended by our central defense, 3 goals...brilliant really. Some of the best goals I have seen in our league.
I just wanted to drop a quick note to say that we have received word that our tax exempt status has been granted by the IRS as of today, June 18, 2003. Therefore, we can provide paperwork for anyone who wishes to sponsor of make donations. Thanks!
We are still trying to fill up some slots for the 3v3 tournament, which will take place this weekend, Aug. 2 and 3rd. Therefore, we have extended the deadline for registration to this Thursday, July 31, 2003. Please check out www.kicks4cancer.org for more information. Or, you can PM me directly for more information. Thanks, Steve Scherrer
