How do you think he's played so far? I think he's done very well. Those free kicks to Lee Jung Soo can't just be lucky coincidences. They probably work on them a lot during practice, and Ki has been delivering pinpoint free kicks to Lee. I think Ki should get more credit than Lee for being able to just clear the heads of defenders and have the ball land right at the CB's foot. If he'd score a goal or make a great pass, then he will truly stand out. I think he does a lot of quiet things really well, such as playing deep, so it's hard to fully appreciate his impact in a game.
Ki has been great in this tournament. Definitely a great set piece guy to have for corners. Hopefully he can beef up a bit and be stronger on the ball.
Think the boy has been playing fairly well. His indirect FK's have been money. For the most part has shown composure belying his age. He looks to have played his way back into form now the question is his club career.
I for one have been saying that Ki is a true elite midfielder. He contributed well today, but I thought it was not his best game. Ki works pretty hard -- you'll see him chase down balls, challenge defenders, etc. He has many very great strengths -- accuracy of long passes, seeing potential plays downfield (he had a truly excellent pass that set up the player on the right wing today -- was it for PJS? It was delivered at a perfect pace on stride -- it is for these types of passes that I think he is truly world class. He also is very good on the ball -- his skills with the ball are excellent and does not lose it easily. He is calm and intelligent. The last excellent skill he has is the long range shot -- he has an excellent, powerful and accurate shot. However, he made more than his usual amount of errors -- a long pass that was too long to LCY and went out, and another in defense to KJW that got lost (some of that blame also goes to KJW, but both have some responsibility) and led to a dangerous situation. I definitely feel he is underappreciated, but I do feel that he will show his true class and hope that he is recognized for the true world class talent that he is.
He covered a respectable amount of distance today in the time he was on, perhaps his fitness is getting better or peaking. Not sure. He's done OK in his role so far but because he doesn't bomb forward too often or get in support as often as his FC Seoul days, some people haven't really taken notice of his holding midfielder duties. I think he made 10 out of 13 long passes today and had the best pass completion on the team.
This guy is MONEY. In the 3 matches he's played so far, I haven't seen anything negative about his performance. I was actually mad he was subbed out so early in the Argentina game. And the best thing about it is that he's young. I can't wait to see what KSY and LCY duo will do for us in the future with this WC experience and once they mature further. No doubt one of them will replace Park as the captain.
even when he had those off day durings the warmup leading up to the wc. he still too good to rule him out. his distribution was awesome. something we never had before. him and chungyong will be cornerstone of our national team this upcoming decade. and for all us, that's exciting as our current last go around of our beloved 2002 generation.
I think he has done a fairly good job so far. He works hard to position himself open and actually demands the ball. He's been that guy that moves the ball through the middle. Without him, our offense would be very genetic and predictable. We all knew his set piece is good, but I think he really showed that he can be useful patrolling the middle. He still needs to work on his defensive positioning and try not to give away the ball at a wrong time, but he is young and is still learning. He needs to be more selfish and trust in his ability more.
Ki is the ONLY midfielder than can deliver from set pieces... He gets injured and Korea is royally fcked
I don't remember who but I seem to recall some individuals saying we should 'bench his ass' or something to that extent before the WC started... Just another case of how people are so susceptible to fickleness.
Lol, always resisted the urge to tell those people to shove it, but I'm not one for getting into fights. Maybe I should've, hahaha.
I feel like in any scenario people like to jump on the youngling bandwagons, like how everyone screams for Lee Seungryul. I like LSR too, I'm just a bit more hesitant than people seem to be... Young prospects are always attractive, but you have to balance that euphoria with a dose of reality...
His play is garnering the notice of FIFA itself: http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/awards...ndex.html#ki+impresses+pastore+makes+entrance A Korean who wins FIFA World Cup Young Player Award? What an honour that would be. If Ki can score a goal or two, and Korea can make a surprising run into the QF, I think he'll have a legit shot at it. There doesn't seem to be that much competition. Giovanni Dos Santos and Thomas Muller seem to be the big names thus far.
Raising my hand. Ki was playing like shite, anyone doubt that? I still don't want him to take any direct FK's. Indirect he's been great. Been playing fairly well in the WC though and KJS leading up to WC played poorly.
i'm boning this white chik right now, she's over texting her phone, they show closeup of Ki. she stop and stare and wach entire time, i think she wanted Ki's d1ck insted of mine. same thing hapen me 02 WC when Ahn came on exept it was korean chick that time
