Kezman boasts one of the most prolific goalscoring records in Europe, having scored 95 goals in four seasons for PSV, a better record than Ruud van Nistelrooy had at the same club.

In the 2002-03 season he scored 35 goals in 33 games, which was the highest total in Holland since Marco van Basten's 37 for Ajax in 1986-87.

    A rising star perhaps?

Meanwhile it is rumoured Chelsea may allow Argentina striker Hernan Crespo to play for AC Milan next season in a one-year loan deal. IF that happens I feel that that little agent fellah really took Roman for a ride.

I'm completely opposed to that idea! I want Crespo to stay!

    Kezman eh?
Well, for once, i've actually seen quite a bit of this "new" lad, the Dutch league being shown every week here in the states.
A good pick up i think, he's definitely got the skills and i've seen him score some quite good goals.
Albeit the defences he'll be going against are a tad bit better than whats he's been playing against to date, if he signs for us.
I like this signing (if it comes off)

Oh - and keep the f***ing Jonah Kenyon away from the deal!

Completely agree - he simply must be given another year.

I would rather they loan Mutu and keep Crespo. UTD are trying to get Rooney,Smith,Saha and Ruud. Crespo should stay, then get Kezman,Eidur and Drogba. Let Arsenal hang on Henry only.

    I like this move.
    link?

crespo? wouldn't kill me to see him loaned out. that said. its not like his salary is stopping us from signing anyone else. And although I have criticized him during the season, and consider him a little disappointing in his first season. I say you can't give up on that talent after just one season. Keep him, he may be "hurt" for the cold months anyway (plenty of playing time to go around).

Crespo to Milan may come back to haunt Chelsea like Morientes did to Real.

Kezman okay...not that special. His goal tally is not that impressive once you watch him play...he misses as many sitters as he makes.

He gets away with being offsides quite a bit too...he won't get that treatment in the EPL.

I really don't understand this acquisition unless he's just a pawn for a bigger deal.

I dont think you watched him too good then... Hes truly one of the best, most effective strikers there is. If Chelsea lets him play enough and if he doenst get injured or anything, I think he will be a major success.
In my opinion, he could be the best striker in the world at the moment, but hey that might be just me. Anyway, Im glad Kezman goes to a club as Chelsea, congratiolations, please treat him well :)

If your trying to convince us that hes not that good, making statements like that wont convince us. If hes missing opportunities and still scoring THAT many goals for PSV, imagine if he gets his shooting boots on?.

I have to agree with qazwsx on this one. At a strike rate of almost a goal per game, how many sitters does he get, exactly? Ibrahimovic, who's supposedly so highly rated (although I thought he was mediocre at best in Portugal) hasn't approached that strike rate.

    Kezman is no Ruud.

I'm not saying Kezman is horrible...he has some good capabilities but he's erratic. I've seen him score goals that had me clapping in admiration...but he seen him botch easy opportunities.

Ruud is a fairly physical, scrapy player...he's very agressive and has excellent ball control skills and his excellent with his first touch.

Kezman, I think, is a least a mark or two lower in all of these categories. Taking into the consideration the quality, speed, and general athleticism of EPL defenders...I think Kezman will be overmatched physically and his lack of superior ball control and first touch skills will be very evident. I think his strike rate will be way down in the EPL and his inconsistency will be more evident and painful to bear.

Bottom line: I don't see this as an improvement over Crespo.

    Interesting singing this
hard to read into his stats much like those players who go to Scotland and bash in 30+ a season; Sutton, Hartson, etc.

Obviously Mourhino must see something in him or he would not have approved the transfer. Lets not forget that most of the stars in the Portugal side were unknowns until Mourhino helped them into the limelight via the Champs Lge; Nuno Valente, Carvallho, Costinha, Maniche, Deco.

    Can you say conspiracy theory?

Billionaire Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has agreed a world record £30million three-year sponsorship deal with Russian champions CSKA Moscow, in an apparent bid to build his second 'super-club'. · The deal - between CSKA and Abramovich's oil company Sibneft - outstrips Manchester United's sponsorship with Vodafone by £1m a year, and, say reports in Russia, could be followed by more funds for squad building.

Is there some connection with the signing of Kezman? The day before he signed with Chelsea he was rumoured to be going to Spartak Moscow, CSKA's rival. There were even quotes from Kezman saying a deal had been agreed with Spartak.

I have no confidence whatsoever that Roman is an honest businessman. So many things he does look like payoffs & underhanded backroom dealings. He's probably one of those guys with a cold, clamy handshake... he makes my skin crawl (and this has absolutely nothing to do with the fact that owns Chelsea).

I was wondering what was up too when I saw Kezman linked with Spartak. Seemed totally random and 3 steps backwards for a player of his caliber.

As for Roman as a business man, do some searchs on bigsoccer for some comments from others. I'll keep mine to it's Russia, so it's bound to seem that way to us the case given the complexity of the history behind it. But I wouldn't say it means Roman is dirty or underhanded. Yeltsin and Putin used the oligarchs to keep a hold on power, they're bound to have history that we in the west wouldn't consider acceptable. Well, at least those of us who aren't comfortable with the whole Cheney / Haliburton thing.

Kezman is a good signing.. once he gets used to playing in England and once he forms a partnership with someone he will become a top 5 striker in the League... really, who do u think will out score him other than Henry, Ruud, Shearer, Owen (if healthy) Saha (possibly), Pires?

The question is who will partner him.. Mutu looks good to me and would probably make a good partner for him but Hernan is very good and probably more talented than Mutu but he would not be as willing to drop back to the midfield from time to time to get the ball...

In terms of scoring leader I might only add Cisse to that list. No doubt the service to the strikers at Chelsea is and will continue to be first class so I may be proven very wrong...Kezman's strike rate may be high indeed but we'll see.

As I said earlier, I haven't seen every match he's played (not by a far sight) so maybe I saw his predominantly poorer performances.

He'll warm the bench, still it prevents another club from having him which seems to be the Chelsea way..(yep, Sour grapes as he was close to going to Charlton).
The guy that said Ibrahimovic had a bad Euro 2004 must have been watching a different tournament although I note with interest he also supports an Italian club so that could be sour grapes too for putting the most boring spiteful team in the Tournment out.(except for 70 minutes v Sweden, why don't Italy play like that every game?)

I loved the Italian goalkeepers condemnation of the Sweden-Denmark draw where he said "what kind of example are we setting the children", yet he was suprisingly silent on the Totti spitting incident....

Sorry to go off topic, what's peoples opinion of Geremi? of the games I saw him play last year I was quite impressed.
