According to ESPN and the PSV Eindhoven website, there is serious interest, by Liverpool and Manchester United, in picking up Mateja Kezman. I am a PSV fan, and although this means doom for my other team, I hope he comes to us. We need to replace Heskey with an able striker, and Kezman is phenominal. I dont know if anyone caught the game on FSW yesterday, but he scored 4 goals.

That's the link. I think Kezman is phenomenal, and I'd rather you got him than Man Utd. They might actually be potent then :)
Although, to be fair, Volendam looked like amateurs yesterday. Just awful.

Kezman and Owen, how is that for devastating?

Kezman is the most exciting player in Europe right now. I hope he gets out of that aweful club PSV as soon as possible.

There are big questions about whether Kezman can cut it against better-than-mediocre opposition. A worrying statistic is that he hasn't scored in 11 matches in the Champions League. It would be an exaggeration to say he is the most exciting player in Europe as he has made absolutely no impact in continental competition.

I dont think his performance in the CL makes him any less exciting. PSV has never been a major Champions League power, even when Van Nistelrooy and Ronaldo were there. I think he can cut it. I think that with the right people around him, he has amazing possibilities. I also think that playing against the likes of Ajax and Feyenoord isnt mediocre. The Dutch league is no worse than the French. Also, Ruud came to England and look at him! I think that Mateja isnt on par with Van Nistelrooy, but they both have been the best player in the same league.

That doesn't matter. We're not going to the Champions League.

We'd probably have to sell Owen for the money to buy Kezman. With Owen being as durable as Ken Griffey Jr., I'd prefer Kezman over him right now.

Kezman knocked in four today by the way.

The French league is far stronger than the Dutch league. You're neglecting that Kezman only plays against Ajax and Feyenoord four times a year. His opponents week-in and week-out are teams like NEC Nijmegen and Vitesse Arnhem whereas quality is far more evenly distributed in France (Monaco, Lyon, PSG, Auxerre, Lens, Nice, Bordeaux). It is important to note that UEFA ranks Holland not only below France but also Greece.

There is another striker in Europe who scores 30 goals a season against mediocre opposition - Henrik Larsson. Unlike Kezman, however, Larsson has proved himself at the highest level in European competition as well as the World Cup. Kezman has accomplished nothing in international football and his failure to score against top European sides is one of the reasons PSV have underperformed in the Champions League.

LOL!!! It'll never happen. Especially if we're up against the Mancs. GH will go about it with his usual lackadasical ways, by trying to wait until his contract runs out in 2005. Then naturally, buy then, someone else would've snatched him up.

    GGGGRRRRRRrrrrrrrrr!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Perhaps frustration at this:

I quote: "I have talked to other clubs like Liverpool, Arsenal and Inter Milan.

'But they keep on telling me to wait and I'm not prepared to wait for them when Rangers are showing how much they want me in Glasgow."

With all of the speculation about Owen going to Barcelona, are you guys trying to get rid of Hesky as well? I believe I remember reading articles about the purchase of Auxerre striker Djibril Cisse.

IMO, replacing Owen and Hesky with Kezman and Cisse is a pretty good deal.

I dont think so. I would rather have Owen than Cisse any day. But we need to get rid of Heskey fast. He has been nothing but a curse on the team

    Thankyou.
    and the Damien Duff saga.
then Anelka, actually getting him and then letting him go. Also Litmanen.
Any class that we've had a STRONG link with in the near past, has managed to slip through our fingers.

........also, we must keep Owen. There's WAAAAAAAAAAAAY too many non-english (not to start another topic) players in the league already. Lets ATLEAST hang on to Mickey O.

One thing I've always thought about Owen is that it's hard to find anyone who can fit in well with him as a partner. Really they need to be physically strong and good in the air to hold the ball up so he doesn't have to, but also capable of dropping a little deeper to link with Gerrard/Hamman in midfield and to thread passes through to him.

At the moment Heskey can do the first, but not the second. While Le Tallec looks like he can do the second but not the first. Pongolle has looked good for you lot but is very similar to Owen. I've also felt Baros has the same problem, fast and always looking to get in behind the last defender and score goals.

Kezman is not bad, very effective against weaker teams, but he's not really going to help Liverpool when they're in Europe against a top team, or in their pursuit of at least a top 4 place in the Premiership. He'd want a fat pay packet and really he's not any good at the physical or linking play side as a forward and he's not as good as Owen or Baros as a striker.

Kezman is on the top of my Christmas list. I think he is the best available striker and he would become a legend at Liverpool if we signed him. Houllier should do everything he can to sign him. Check out these stats...Last year Kezman scored 35 goals in 32 games. This year he already has 15 goals in 12 games. Nobody in the world is scoring at that kind of pace. You can see its a weak league, but great players such as Van Nistelroy, Bergkamp, and Kluivert started their careers in Holland.

Kezman already stated that he prefers a move to Man United. So basically the Scum could have him if they want him. But Man U could also go after pretty much any other player in the world. If the Mancs don't make a bid for Kezman, I believe we have a good chance to get him.

Sounds like you're describing Sheva. I'm afraid he's taken, however.

I think you're being a bit too rough on him. He's not the greatest thing since sliced bread, but at the moment Liverpool's healthiest and most experienced striker is - Heskey. (Injuries, and whatnot.) I'm hardly saying Kezman will turn into Ruud, but he'll have a better strike ratio than Heskey.
