    Why? Because I'm bored.

    From Downtown SF

    N-Judah
This is the fastest way from downtown
-Go to the closest MUNI subway station (Embarcadero, Montgomery, Powell, Civic Center, or Van Ness)
-Go to the MUNI entrance gates, (if you have a MUNI transfer coupon, hand it to the agent. Make sure you get the return trip half back.) The fare is $1.50, $1,25 with transfer, quarters only (quarters are avaiable from the BART ticket machines).
    -Take the Outbound N-Judah
-Get off at Stanyan & Carl
-Walk north (downhill) on Stanyan one block, and west (left) on Frederick to the gate
-To get back, do the same in reverse. Make sure you have your return coupon. The fare is $1.50/$1.25 again.

    71/71L Haight-Noriega
You can hop off on Haight street and do a little shopping or get some food before the match.
-The 71 stops at all the same Market Street BART and MUNI stations that the N does, and runs the length of Haight Street. The 71L has limited stops, so check out the route sign to make sure it stops there.
-Fares are the same as the N ($1.25 with transfer coupon, $1.50 without)
-Get off between Masonic & Stanyan for the Haight-Ashbury shopping discrict.
-To get to Kezar, walk to the end of Haight, and turn left on Stanyan (at the McDonalds).
-Return the same way or take the N back.

    6 Parnassus
The 6 also takes you near the upper Haight district, but make sure to get off before it turns onto Masonic.
-The 6 follows the same route as the 71 downtown, except it goes directly to the Transbay Terminal. The fares are the same as the 71 and the N.
-Get off at Masonic & Haight for shopping and dining, get off at Parnassus & Stanyan for the stadium.
-Walk north (downhill) on Stanyan two blocks, and west (left) on Frederick to the gate.
-To get back, do the same in reverse, or take the N.

    Other SF areas
Three other Muni routes go to Kezar, the 33-Stanyan (get off at Stanyan & Haight), the 37-Corbett (get off at Haight & Cole), and the 43-Masonic (get off at Parnassus & Stanyan or Haight & Cole). Click on them for more information.

    From the East Bay

    BART
-Take BART to Civic Center station
-BEFORE you exit through the gates, pick up a MUNI transfer coupon. Go to the MUNI gate to take the N, go up on the street for the 71.
    -Follow instruction from Downtown SF

    AC Transit Transbay
-Take a transbay bus to the Transbay Terminal
-Follow instructions from Downtown SF. The 6-Parnassus stops at the Terminal. The closest underground station is Montgomery, a couple blocks away on Market.

    From the Peninsula/South Bay

    Caltrain
-Get a DAY PASS instead of buying two one-way tickets. The day pass is the same price as two one-ways, and it means you don't have to waste time buying another ticket on the way home (which may be helpful if you're trying to make the 10 pm train).
-Take the train all the way to 4th & King station.
-Go to the island platform for the N on King Street, and buy a MUNI ticket ($1.50).
-Take it all the way to Stanyan & Carl. It's a long ride. Take a nap, maybe?
-Walk north (downhill) on Stanyan one block, and west (left) on Frederick to the gate
-To get back, do the same in reverse. The fare is $1.50 again.
-Southbound trains leave 4th & King at 10 and 12 on Saturday nights. Cross your fingers and hope you make that 10 PM train, otherwise you've got a bit of time to kill.

    SamTrans
I couldn't find any SamTrans routes that went to SF at the proper times (Saturday nights). It does go to BART and Caltrain, though, so follow those instructions once you get there. SamTrans schedules are available here. Make sure your bus runs late on Saturdays.

From the North Bay and beyond
Golden Gate Transit operates a bunch of buses that go to downtown SF, check for one near you here. Make sure it runs after 10pm on Saturdays.

The Capitol Corridor doesn't run late enough to get you back on Saturday night. If you feel like spending the night in the city, take it to Richmond station, then follow the instructions for BART.

Sorry for the thread jack. Can we talk about where to park near Kezar Stadium. I was there once for a soccer tournament, and the parking lot seemed very small for a stadium. What are the best options in the area?

Truthfully don't drive, but if you must you really only have a couple of options. 1. come early and park in the lot, they should be charging $8 like they do for most events. 2. Look around the neighborhood and try and find a spot, this can be a frustrating endeavor and you can expect to walk a ways. 3. Park somewhere down in the Avenues toward the beach on the N-Judah line and then take the N the rest of the way. This may be the best option because there is a lot of parking down there. Just a couple of ideas hope it helps. Oh yeah and don't be fooled by sunny weather, once the sun goes down it will get cold so be ready. Final note GO QUAKES! :D

The entire family including the six year old is going. Based on the 2005 season she will be the loudest six year old in the stadium and then will be "lights-out" once in her car seat on the way home.

Thanks for the update on it being cold at night. The one time I was there it was the opposite. We got there in the morning for a soccer tournament and it was nice, cool and little cloudy. Looked to be great weather if you were a soccer player. Then once the sun came out got hot (for here at least) very fast.
