Kezar Confirmation of Shootout by Wed.

I will know by Wednesday if Kezar is going to order the shootout. Please confirm your attendance next Saturday in the thread below.

It is extremely important that we show Kezar that they are the only home for MLS in SF. They have supported local soccer in San Francisco for years.

I will be there after 5pm due to work - but I will be there.

I can't make it Saturday, but would gladly pay some $$ to pitch for the cause.

The manager of the Kezar Pub has confirmed the ordering of the MLS Shootout for the upcoming season. He will have the package on two receivers. In addition any FSW or ESPN game can also be shown on another TV.

If you live anywhere near (or in SF) I encourage you to make the Kezar your soccer Saturday (and occasionaly sunday, wednesday, etc.) bar of choice. Watch all of the Earthquakes games (not home games) and all of the other MLS teams you may be a fan of.

Make a late afternoon (day) out of it.

    Let's show our support.

Thank you for helping me convince the management.

    James

p.s. Ride your bicycle or take Muni to the pub - easier to get home after imbibing.

I'll probably buy an SUV for the sole purpose: to run over Richter Boy.

You will be able to spot me because I drive an old fashioned wine wagon full of my latest vintage.

Whenever I am free on Saturday I will make sure to make it down to Kezar pub for the games. Can't wait to see all the MetroStars games there

More information - Kezar does not accept Credit Cards but has an ATM machine inside, parking is hard to come by (especially for Gas Guzzling SUVs) - so take public transport if you can and bring cash.

Moderator - can you make this thread sticky?

There's a huge parking lot across the Kezar Pub with rates about $1/hour, so don't worry about parking.

You know things are slow when a thread about Kezar Pub is at the top of the page... even without being a sticky.

And probably, it'd be a good idea to update ClubQuake.Org page that currently says:

"Our San Francisco based Club Quake members have chosen The Boathouse at Lake Lagunitas in Golden Gate Park as their official away game viewing party headquarters."

    ;)

Yeah, I never understood why it said "Lake Lagunitas" anyway. I used to live in San Francisco, and I never heard of it. Lake Merced, on the other hand...

And why don't people want to go to the Boathouse? Parking is no problem, it's a nice area, and there are many big tv's... :mad:/

I'll never go to Kezar because it's such a hassle, but I'll probably take in a couple of games at the Boathouse.

Lake Lagunitas is way up in Marin, near... San Anselmo.

People have mixed feelings about the Boathouse. On the one hand, they've always been nice to us. And they have a couple of decent big-screens.

    On the other hand...
    1) Their food has gotten really bad. A step below free samples at Costco.

    2) It's hard for some people to get to -- a lot of SF fans don't have their own cars. I don't know if public transportation goes there, but it's out of the way, relatively speaking.

    3) I'll disagree with Porkrind: Kezar isn't really a hassle -- they have a huge cheap public lot right across the street. And they too have always been accommodating.

They're both fine in the long run. It's just a matter of preference.

In Kezar we'll definitely get more exposure to casual sport-loving fans (who can be possibly converted to become soccer fans), than in Boathouse, that's for sure.

I did go to the Boathouse before - it wasn't bad. It is out of the way, the food isn't very good, and they have really done nothing for Soccer in SF.

The Kezar location is central (in a matter of speaking), the beer selection is better, easily accesible by all modes of transport and is a central location for all sorts of soccer matches and fans.

They also agreed to order the shootout - that means that fans of other MLS teams can watch their teams (like me) and also catch quakes matches and mingle with fans from other teams.

Well, if Kezar is becoming the home of MLS in San Francisco, it'd be nice to bring a flag, banner, poster .. whatever in there and ask them to put it somewhere, so a casual fan will know that this is THE PLACE.
    Can we do it?
