American striker Kevin Jones lands a contract with Irish Champion Shelbourne FC. http://www.uefa.com/footballcentral/News/Kind=2/newsId=34652.html
Wow... I wondered what happened to this guy. He left the Boston Bulldogs after the 2001 season, supposedly for trials in Scandinavia, but never landed anywhere (or at least, I couldn't find out where). I know I am not the only person who has been trying to figure out what happened to Jones!
I don't know, DMN. Maybe not Jones, but for some of these obscure YAs, you probably are the only person trying to figure out where they are. We all sure appreciate it! I know little about the Irish league. Is it semi-pro? Do they even compete in UEFA competitions? Have any well-known players gotten their start there?
I guess he gets special consideration by the NCAA becuase he's an "untouchable." Perhaps just as important will he continue to wear # 7?
Yes, they do participate in UEFA competitions. Shamrock Rovers lost to Djurgården in UEFA Cup Qualifying. Shelbourne FC lost to Hibernians in the first round of Champions League qualifying. Kickin Magazine is a good resource for Irish football. http://www.kickinmagazine.ie Another good resource is Soccer Central. http://www.soccercentral.co.uk
jones Kevin Jones is the same player that went to Providence College a few years back, then played with Boston Bulldogs after that.
