I'm in a quandary about this one. Obviously Totti had some intent on his part. Obviously Keown embellished the "contact". Obviously Totti would have done the same thing. Obviously Keown was wrong. Obviously Totti has been wrong many, many, many times. I don't think we should suspend or take a second look at what Keown did. I say at the beginning of next season - FIFA, UEFA, The FA, whomever, should all start clamping down on this crap. As long as they are consistent and fair, then maybe this practice will start to disappear from the Beautiful Game.
I saw what happened (on TV). Totti was running backwards trying to get the ball and I saw him turned around, so he must have saw Keown behind him. Then Totti moved his arm backwrads and hit Keown. See, he should have listened to the English TV / radio commentators. Never raise your arm up in the air. Anyway, why is FIFA interfering with the referee's decision? If the referee saw it, there shouldn't be an investigation. That's the famous quote from the English FA.
i cant stand to see players embelish contact... there isn't a place for it in this game and never will.. .surely im not alone in thinking this.. i do believe totti did this incident on purpose, but if someone was to pick up that ball and go towards goal.. then i guarantee you would of seen keown get up immediately and stop the ball, not roll on the pitch... that said, totti deserved the early dismissal~~ go gooners phishy
Well, being that Totti is a great actor himself, it doesn't bother me one bit what happened to him. Hopefully nothing will happen to Keown.
