http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...Abflug_Cooper-geht-zurueck-in-die-Heimat.html I didn't see this posted anywhere. Mods please consolidate if necessary The original link in German is provided. If true, PDX is the destination. I would be happy to have him back and perhaps regain his form.
Not a done deal yet, but things are definitely in the works. Former MLS star Cooper in talks to return
i would find nothing less surprising than the return of kenny cooper. frankly i've been wondering about it for a while. imo he's a player who craves some sort of special regard, but isn't tough enough to overcome the most difficult challenges in order to earn it. sorry if that sounds a little harsh, and he actually isn't a bad player although i'm not sure i'd take him on my team. on an expansion team he'd pbl be 'the man.'
Someone said this before - I wouldn't consider someone who breaks their leg and ankle due to bad challenges as injury prone. I believe he's had one other legit injury other than the 2 breaks. Happy to see him back. My take on this is at the age of 26 and coming back from injury in Europe, his best/quickest chance of rising his stock again is in MLS rather than bouncing around to a possibly questionable situation in EU.
Love the pickup, he's had injury issues, but he's not had the type of consistent, tendon type issues that can end a players career. His a good fit for our style of play, we're assembling a very athletic team outside and definitely need a big forward that can create for himself but also provide a target. If we pickup Nagbe I'm going to be pretty happy with our forward corps. I'm still eagerly awaiting news on our purported "tops in the league" midfielder GavinSpense have hinted at.
One problem with Cooper is that while, yes, he is a big forward, he's not necesarily a good "target" forward. Cooper loves to free lance and play away from the goal, go get the ball, and then go on and do his thing. Will be interesting to see how he gets along with Spencer as his coach (presuming this deal goes through). Not that Cooper hasn't been pretty darn successful using that style, at least in MLS.
ahahahahahahahaha! Cooper you moron! ahahahahahahahahahaha. dude and his father are a joke for their move overseas. at least he realized his folly early on. Adu is still wasting his life twittering away while he continues to fail.
Wait...what makes the kid a moron? Chasing his dream? Making more money? Likely making more money than he did before in MLS? It's not like he left a good paying job to take a chance abroad with no contract in place and then failed to land somewhere.
Now all we need is for Freddy Adu to come to his senses and return stateside. He is trying out for a German 2nd Division outfit. Give me a break, I think a player is better served being in MLS than Bundesliga 2. What's the matter with Freddy does he think he is too good for MLS? I know he can make more in Germany than MLS but he is regressing rather than progressing in Europe much like Johnier Montano did not too long ago for those who follow Colombian soccer.
Kenny Cooper would arguably be the second best american field player on any expansion franchise behind Jay Demerit. That's impressive. Neither Seattle, RSL, Houston, Chivas, Philly, nor Toronto have a better American field player.
two answers and i didn't understand a word of either. and where i sleep is my own business! anyway, kenny cooper is certainly an interesting debate. i never minded watching him and i like having him back, even though i'm not a great fan.
This should be interesting if it comes off with Kenny's dad/agent screwing up his chances with the FO/Coaches and england66 ripping Portland fans & MLS on BigSoccer.
Glad to have him back in the league. Guys like this are part of the natural flow of things. Leaving, failing abroad, coming back. It shows why MLS doesn't need to panic every time a guy decides to leave.
