Long-rumored German-American Ken Gipson is now confirmed by his new club as a YA. I've seen him listed on various sites as a Yank before but could never pin it down: 2/23/1996 178 cm 69 kg Deutschland, Vereinigte Staaten von Amerika Roter Bulle seit 6/30/2015 http://www.dierotenbullen.com/die-roten-bullen/bullenherde.html#bullenherde/Ken-Gipson Not sure if he was a known quantity to the last U20 program but he's still U23-eligible. http://www.dierotenbullen.com/neuigkeiten/Saison_2015_16/Neuzugaenge-Sommer-2015.html
Subbed out in the 19th minute this week for the reserve team. Hope it's not a serious injury. http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...zen-5809_rasenballsport-leipzig-ii-16174.html
appears he was out of action until mid September. Gipson has went the full 90 at right back in the last 4 matches for RB Leipzig II since his return.
So, Gipson made his professional debut on 11/1 after subbing on for RB Leipzig's right back in the 30th minute. He started at right back on 11/8 and played 73 minutes.
RB Leipzig appear to be in a 3-way tie for 1st place in 2. Bundesliga, its a good sign if your breaking in to this squad at 19.
In a U23 match now: Doppelchance für die #RBLU23! Erst scheitert Ken #Gipson, dann Zsolt #Kalmár im Nachschuss. Da geht noch was, Jungs! #RBLBFC 1:1 (71.)— RB Leipzig (@RBLeipzig) November 22, 2015
http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...eipzig-ii-16174/79135/spieler_gipson-ken.html His page. It's good to have Rangnick on board there. He will give young players a chance. Gipson is just getting some Regionalliga Nordost taste though.
And here's a quick profile of him and a reminder he might get some BL minutes this season: http://www.starsandstripesfc.com/20...a-no-it-is-not-Christian-Pulisic-it-never-was
Is that based on something the club has said, or just ... common sense? The pertinent graf says: Gipson, 20, is a rightback who joined RB Leipzig last summer from VFB Stuttgart and made his debut with the first team in this past spring. The young defender is not firmly cemented in the Leipzig first team, having spent the majority of last year with RB's second team, but he has earned 2. Bundesliga minutes and has a much greater chance of making a Bundesliga breakthrough this year with Leipzig than say Julian Green does with Bayern. Seems logical, but doesn't appear to reflect more than reasonable conjecture.
