This might have been titled: Keller Punches the Clock: "Three more years driving this bus, then I get my pension" Maybe I'm reading between the lines, but doesn't it sound like he's jaded at Spurs? It's damning with faint praise when the high point of the season is "I played every game". Kasey's probably too good a professional to complain -- but Spurs has got to be a downer place to play: - not good enough to challenge for anything - too big to gain any satisfaction from staying up - fans who are perpetually p**ed off b/c they've lost their status as one of the England's glamour sides - a manager who seems to leave behind a wake of troubled players - seeing your bitter rivals surpass you -- and take your best player Has anyone heard anything about him making one more big move? For his sake, I'd love to see him playing Champions League or in a cup final somewhere.
i think the "i played every game" was more about him coming in and winning the job from sullivan and keeping it. many thought he was just "cheap cover" for sully and would never legitimately gain the first shirt. i think it wasn't resignation--i.e. thats all he did, but a bit of a statement--i took the job and kept it.
It was probably along the lines of I played every game but the defense stopped playing 2 games ago. He will be happy for the break that DC's impotent attack will provide.
i was kinda hoping the crap defense of spurs might loosen up the dogturd that is our offense--sorta case of the "resistable force meeting the movable obstacle". i saw spurs play a bunch of times on fsw and it wasn't just the last two games his defense gave up, i saw several games where that happened. i realize brad had a great year but i think keller did also this year. there were several games he kept spurs in singlehandedly. both games against manu, it was damn near 11 against 1 and he played very well.
Well, keep in mind that Friedel had a suspect defense this year as well. The problem with Spurs is more the injury bug than anything. But Keller has also seemed to have a few mental laspses this season. But, he did say from day 1 that his goal was to be the #1 keeper for Spurs, and he is without question.
