There's only one Kasey Keller so he should have a thread. I'm not following this game but thought someone else might want to post updates. He's starting and there's no score after 14'. Both teams are barely above the relegation zone. Crystal Palace is in 16th place with 12 points after 14 games. So'ton is one place behind them in 17th with 11 pts. Norwich also have 11 but are in the relegation zone based on the tiebreaker.
And now Palace have re-taken the lead, with Wayne Routledge scoring in the 54th minute. 2-1 to the visitors from the capital...
Kasey and company now have a chance from taking a share of the points, as Andreas Jakobssen has tied it up again for the Saints in the 76th minute.

Well, by some I meant some of the action from the matchtracker, I think I included just about every mention of Kasey.
Hey, I missed the game, but read your thread and enjoyed the americanized pbp, so you did quite well.
Just saw the Palace goals. The one by Johnson was a perfect header that wouldn't have been saved by any keeper, and the second came off a huge deflection. KK had another solid game for Soton, and maybe they might not be in such a hurry to get Antti back.
BBC Match Report here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/eng_prem/4028085.stm A couple of KK references: "Johnson was denied twice by Kasey Keller, once from the right and once from the left, before the Palace striker finally managed to float a header into the top corner to put the visitors ahead. " "But, to cap an amazing start to the second-half, Routledge put Palace ahead again. He controlled the ball on the right touchline, before cutting inside and scoring via a deflection off Jakobsson, leaving Keller wrong-footed." You know, an interesting bit on Kasey is that, by giving him a run in all those WCQ games, Bruce kept him eligible for the EPL work permit. If Bruce played someone else and Kasey remained languishing on the bench at Tottenham and likely not being looked at as an EPL starter anymore, MLS would have appeared a far likelier destination. Now with all these caps to his credit, Keller should be able to land a job as an EPL back-up.
It's not that simple to gain citizenship in most countries. Keller has only been in England for 3 years and just working and living there isn't enough.
Wouldn't count... he left for Spain... in between... but then again, I'm not an expert on the laws to obtain British citizenship.... assuming he even wanted it. And remember, he got the original work permit at Millwall before the rules changed to 75% of national team games... and was grandfathered in once they were in place.
firstly, i think voros was kidding (maybe he wasnt), secondly i believe the brit laws say you need 10 yrs to apply for citizenship (us only 7). I also think it is a constant living law. So he would have to start over once he returned to england.
Saw the highlights last night and Keller had a stellar game. Saved Southampton big time on a number of occasions from Palace's Johnson. First goal was an unsavable header and the second was a deflection that put Kasey the wrong way.
From the SaintsFC website: http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/article.asp?article=240650&Title=Keller+confident A bit of fluff but good to see Keller getting some attention.
Plenty of players get passport eligibility without applying for citizenship. I believe that all you have to do is work in country on a work permit for about five years to qualify for a passport. For instance, Carlo Cudicini, Stephane Henchoz and several other players have worked long enough to qualify for a UK passport and neither has been in England for ten years.
Right, but there was talk of Cudicini becoming a British Citizen so he could qualify for England. I remember he was eligible to do this a few months before the European Championships. As he arrived in England in '99, that presumably means it's five years of residence required. Pretty sure Keller wouldn't qualify given that he lived in Spain for a couple of years in the middle of his time in Europe.
