US citizen & Sierra Leon international Kei Kamara is rumored to be on his way to Middleborough in the Championship. SKC has given him permission to travel to the UK in hopes of the teams working out a deal. http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/10647450.Kei_Kamara_on_way_to_Boro_/?ref=twtrec
SKC CEO hinting that this might be a done deal: This is not easy, but sometimes in sports you have to make tough, unpopular decisions. This is one of those days. #skcnation— Robb Heineman (@RobbHeineman) September 2, 2013
SKY Sports reports that Kamara has been seen in Newcastle Airport in the last hour. Looks like this deal is done, pending the medical.
Wanna thank BostonRed for leading with Kei being a US citizen and this avoiding all the comments about him not being American.
A nice success story for the league and for Kei. With Soony Saad developing, SKC really did have a glut of forwards. Even with Kamara leaving, they have Bieler, Bunbury, Sapong, Saad, and Dwyer on the books. Dwyer had been doing great on loan with Orlando before being recalled to SKC. Perhaps its time to give him some more chances to earn first team playing time.
Very nice move if true. Personally, if we had a role in development pre professional contract, he might deserve to be called a yank abroad.
Way to go. Shame Norwich didn't pick him up. He did well and would have been a cheap buy as opposed to bringing in Elmander.
Yeah I know that 1. But he's worth the money. Elmander is much older than both and only been a decent striker in the PL past and his wages might be close to Wolfswinkel and probably expected to start. Kamara is a decent buy considering his low wages and a worthy sub.
According to MLSsoccer: Sky Sports also reports that Middlesbrough is just one of several teams pursuing Kamara, citing Crystal Palace, FC Copenhagen and Rayo Vallecano among other interested sides.
FC Copenhagen are in Group B the Champions League, along with Real Madrid, Juventus and Galatasary. One thing that could certainly make that choice more appealing...
With Copenhagen he's have 6 CL matches he could get. Plus a great chance of a title by season's end. Crystal Palace- return to the PL. Worthy sub to Chamakh.
Plus if he was in fact spotted in the Newcastle airport, Middlesbrough seems much more likely than FCK, if he needs a medical and all.
FC Copenhagen hasn't exactly been lighting up Denmark this season thus far. It would appear that it is not the 2010-11 Champions League anymore.
True, but they still have the money to do something about it now that their former 2010-11 Champions League coach Ståle Solbakken is back ... I predict that they will look much better in Champions League in compare with how they have done so far in the Superliga, quite simply because they they mainly have had trouble defending high while pushing forward and dominating possession against very tactically clever defensive minded teams... and they are not going to face these kind of problems in CL .. Daniel Braaten and a player like Olof Mellberg are going to look good for them in CL I suspect. .
Apparently Bologna enquired about his Sporting KC teammate Graham Zusi but SKC weren't interested in selling. I think Graham would be an excellent fit in Serie A.
Damn that flew under the radar. Zusi would own in Serie A. I wonder if he might get the same or better offer next summer.
I like how they included a picture of Teal Bunbury playing in the article. They look similar at all. Also good for Kei, he's a good dude.
No idea, but transfermarkt has his "value" as 500k Euros. http://www.transfermarkt.de/de/kei-kamara/transfers/spieler_39049.html
