Diego Luna is just so damned fun to watch. Not only is he a human highlight reel but he plays with an infectious joy.
Maybe DCU's win over Orlando is more impressive than we believed, they came back from 3-0 down to beat Miami 4-3 last night. Spicer got the winner by going 5 hole on St. Clair.
There is a direct inverse correlation between whether an MLS stadium plays a pre-recorded Andres Cantor-esque "gol" call and how Mickey Mouse the home team is.
We do seem to be in quite the turnaround, and the optimism thread is over there <---, but feeling like Charlie Brown for the last 20 years makes me wonder if we will get a story like this at the end of the year... Was Leyton Orient manager’s rant the best of the season?: ‘A year of my career wasted’ - The Athletic
After Tigres scored the Concachamps semi-final game winner, you could see the stands at the Estadio Universitario literally shaking. Anyway I just wanted to say that I miss RFK.
It was always fun to watch from the bouncy side and hoping not to spill a beer by miss-timing your jumping (and going down when the floor was coming up), but there was nothing as exhilarating (and slightly anxiety producing) like being in the club level/400s-500s when the whole building was shaking...giant buildings of cement aren't supposed to do those things!
more, just goes to show how for the rest of the world, unlike the US mentality, soccer is not life and death. It's more important than that. My in-laws are in/from Toluca - nothing but a complete thrashing was going to be acceptable after the loss last week. Players would have been ridiculed and shamed in the streets a la GoT had it gone the other way.
If you'd asked me before the tournament, I'd have told you that Toluca and Tigres are probably the two best teams on the continent. In that sense, I'm happy to see them in the final. But are they really going to make both teams play short-handed in the continental final while their respective players are doing keepsie upsies and 5 on 5 drills at Mexico national team training? Absolute madness.
yup, that is the big beautiful and ridiculous controversy over there right now.... on the other hand, la Seleccion I think has been having as tough a time as the USMNT of late so I kinda understand wanting to get as much camp time as possible.
The last game at RFK they had the Viking Army in the 400 level seats behind the goal near our end and I have no idea how the mezzanine stayed attached. Those guys were bouncing non-stop.
Anyone watching LAFC hosting Houston? This is GOOD Bennyball in action on display. I have a HUGE smile on my face at how Houston is just pasting LAFC on the road by breaking LAFC’s press at will. Houston is doing a great job of just making two passes out do the back to break the press before LAFC even knows what happened. Check this one out on replay or at least the match recap. It’s great. I love see it when pressing teams get torched over and over again by traditional 4-4-2 variant teams that sit back and take the ball from all the congestion at the transition from the middle third to the final third, break the press in two passes, then just go off to the races down the flank. Think DC United hosting Atlanta back in 2018.
There must be something in the air tonight. Because the average number of goals per game league wide is very high.
It's autocaptioning. Speech to text tech. So it'll pick up a hot mic or if it's set to the production channel rather than the commentary mics channel, you'll get that. "ok go to camera 7"
Crew fired their new coach today, after just 14 games..... (Is that fewer games than when Onalfo was let go...?)
I don’t know who needs to hear this — actually the PBP guy on the Nashville — LAFC game does — the color of the Nashville shirt is not “gold” — it’s Piss Yellow. Thank you you attention to this matter.
What is interesting is that Orlando and Columbus both have fired coaches this year and are objectively worse than DCU and both their CSO's were in the running for the job that Mackay finally obtained. Gives you further insight into what a complete assclown Levien is when it comes to hiring actual soccer people. As for Rydstrom, he, like Nancy before him in 2025, is suffering from "no one can replace Darlington Nagbe" syndrome. Like the DCU years between Gomito and Lucho.
