The Duke/UNC rivalry is significantly more analogous to US/Mexico in soccer than a fellow ACC team playing a defunct west coast conference squad.

I prefer seeing American and Canadian teams grow and surpass their Mexican counterparts in continental competition, save for actual DC rivals like Red Bulls and Philly.

The Liga MX squads, just like the national team from their soil, started light years ahead of their MLS/North American counterparts. I prefer MLS being the strongest league in CONCACAF, and as such that means that by and large MLS teams need to prove themselves in this competition.

To each their own, but you won’t find me cheering for Liga MX over MLS very often, Philly and NYRB excepted.

And to think Arena said to Levien he wanted to return to DCU and that shitbag said "no", hired Lesesne and then doubled down on stupid by paying Weiler more than Arena probably would have taken in the first place. There is no fixing stupid.

Bad owners aren't bad owners because they want to be bad owners. They are bad owners because they don't have the capability to be anything else.

Didnt they say no to arena because of his alleged racist baggage?

He had been "rehabilitated" by MLS and I don't believe the actual language used that offended ABMOD has ever been revealed.

In a way, they kind of do? A lot of bad owners are bad because they can't get out of the way and let the competent managers do their jobs. I would guess the barrier to Arena was that he wanted no pushback on his moves. A guy like Arena wants to be coach and basically CSO too. There's too much ego here for that.

I don't want to spoil this for you. But watch tonight's PHI/TOR highlights all the way to the end. You won't be disappointed.

NYRB is a fun watch, aren’t they? Attack is balls out, defending is like the bad guys in a sports movie.

Nah, more like a Dook fan rooting for Boston College or Stanford playing a PAC-2 team.

OK, before they take it down, check out minute 7:36 (78:07 game time) of the CHI/KC highlights with the captions turned on. You can hear it as well - at least if MLS doesn't figure it out first and remove it!

I'm not sure what was going on but I saw a similar thing in another MLS game this weekend. It seems like the captions were being generated with the production track enabled, which we viewers don't hear.

well, its a bit of a mystery then what the reference is to.

There is enough crowd noise that is could have been picked up on a field mic; but also sounds as if it is from a member of the production crew talking to another member) - in which case someone is gonna get a talking to....

As a Stan, I would know one of her collabs. It was weird seeing my name be verbed.

EDIT: Just listened to that song again and forgot how messed up it was that it referenced Phil . . . . Collins.

Seeimg the scoreline and reading a recap of yesterdays semifinal, it makes me, I wonder if some of the recent DCU entertainment factor hasnt rubbed off on the UCL...

It's a rare pleasure to see two teams with that talent level simply not give a damn about defensive structure. There could have been even more goals than there were.

Today's match should be peak haramball and the complete opposite of what people saw yesterday.

It was as entertaining as Tuesday's game. Just without the goals.

PS: Nice to see the Ref not award a PK after VAR review

The Whitecaps could use the Worm's services but he is no longer with us.
