If CRUZ AZUL is part of the "Big 4" why is their attendance realtively mediocre?

    2004 attendance figures from www.worldfootballrankings.com:

    America: 61,000
    Pumas: 45,000
    Chivas: 31,000
    Monterrey: 31,000
    Tigres: 29,000
    Queretaro: 29,000
    Vera Cruz: 24,000
    Chiapas: 23,000
    Atlas: 22,000
    CRUZ AZUL: 22,000
    Morelia: 21,000
    Necaxa: 18,000
    Real San Luis: 18,000
    Puebla, 17,000
    Santos Laguna: 17,000
    Irapuato: 16,000
    Pachuca: 16,000

I don't have a big answer. Part of it has to do with the fact that they have to compete for their market with other soccer teams in Mexico City: UNAM, America, Atlante. Imagine 4 MLS teams in NY City. Part of it has to do with the fact...sadly speaking as a Cruz Azulino....:( ....they haven't won a championship since 1997...that's 10yrs! If you look at the other teams above in attendance, you have the Big 4 (Chivas, America, and Pumas), then you have the regional teams (Monterrey and Tigres) and the city teams which means they are the only game in town. Part of it also has to do with the fact that Cruz Azul is not too big on "mercadotecnia"/marketing like America aka. TeleVisa and Chivas aka Vergara.

I think Capulincolorado is just in denial about the fact Cruz Azul no es equipo grande, es un equipo chico :D . But everyone to their own.

    Vamos Tigres!!

Tonight Tigres plays the second leg of their Copa Lib knockout match against Libertad in Peru. The first leg was a 0-0 draw, so a win or a non-goalless draw and they advance. Come on Tigres!!

Why is the game in Peru instead of Paraguay?

Libertad hit all there PK's and Tigres missed their 4th attempt, never got a chance to attempt the 5th. Sucky way to lose out on the tournament...but here is the silver lining.......they are out of the clasuara and out the CL so now they can send FCD some players on loan until the Apertura starts up again. :)

And it solves the scheduling conflict between the Rio Grande Plate and Copa Libertadores.
