    More Clive thoughts

Great to see the team "Unity"

A lot of what I am seeing today I have hoped, wanted and even predicted.

As many of you know I am a huge fan of the 4-3-3 we are seeing today. Not just because I love the Barca/Dutch style but because it suits THIS team.

To be fair we are at 65% of where I think we can be.

    Why?

    Nasri and Theo.

Add them in front of Denilson and Nik and we have another dimension. Nasri I think will be a star. The more you ask of him the more he gives. He can out work anyone but he needs to be challenged. He keeps the ball and can shoot harry and dispossess.

Denilson has been a huge surprise to me and I have to say Diaby worries me more. He has the talent but he needs a big game as his confidence looks low. A little scared to fail as he knows he is not trusted by the fans.

We so need his type and look around the world there are not many like him out there. We must persist as his star could be as big as any trust me.

Theo needs to just play. In this formation he will feel wanted, and less exposed going backwards. He will be set free away from home so much. As teams push us back Theo can explode into the gaps and we have many who can find him.

    Remember that word... "Unity"

Those four nil nils last year could be wins this.

The Arsenalisation of the club is massive statement to say the club is listening. Focused on football and the fans needs again. Not just taking us for granted.

Its time for arsenal to grow up and not be afraid to be as big as we are.

I am out in Paphos and the Arsenal v Celtic signs are out already. We are big let's be big. Let's spread the Arsenal word. We have 60,000 fans are only once for 8 minutes v Man Utd in the CL have we seen the true power we possess.

We have seen it negatively with Eboue imagine what we can do.

Should be an interesting end to the transfer season. I really have no idea what to expect. Could be 3 players coming in down to none. I'm just happy the season has started so well.

If it's just one player, I hope its a DM.

Going to be a busy time a week from now, presumably we won't be shopping until after the Celtic tie is done, so we've got transfer rumours and a trip to OT to squeeze in before the weekend is done.

CB hopefully. In terms of cover Vermaelen and Gallas are the only ones I worry about.

Texan you want Theo up top like Robben and Duff were under Mourinho?

Song can fill in at CB if one of them goes down. We've got nobody in the squad that can fill in for Song should he go down. That's why I'd go for a DM.

But do you think in Song's absence as a true def mid, we can go with two in that spot and one in front of them like we have done at times in our three matches thus far?

until he can, counting on rosicky for contribution would be silly.

If it takes two players to effectively do what Song can do on his own, wouldn't it be wise to address that? Which two would you even go with? There isn't a duo available that brings enough physical presence and defensive ability to keep teams at bay IMO.

I agree that it's not efficient and that Song or a replacement DM behind two attacking mids is certainly preferable. But if Song were to miss some short time or simply need a rest, I think we could more than get by Denilson and Diaby behind Fabregas or even Denilson and Fabregas behind a healthy Nasri.

I know it isn't the physical presence we would want back there. But Denilson and Fabregas are both solid two-way players. That being said, it's not ideal and I wouldn't want to deal with it for too long or against top competition, so again, I agree with you. I guess I'm just playing devil's advocate... or maybe I have too much confidence in our new CB tandem.

What bugs me is they don't even have to be overpriced. There are enough options out there and enough teams that should be more desperate to sell than we are to buy. One of the things I love about Arsenal is their fiscal responsibility. While others rack up debt, Arsenal is calmly getting the most for their money and paying off that gorgeous stadium. But we can afford, and basically need, to add a player here.

Besides, we're not talking about breaking the bank on a star. A young DM with some potential or even a veteran who can add some leadership TO SERVE IN A BACKUP ROLE... that's not hard.

In the last 2 seasons, Arsene has brought in Ramsey, Nasri, Vermilean, Arshavin. All four are quality players that can just about start for every EPL team. Give it a break! Arsene will buy when a good deal comes by. Right now, we are fine and we are a deep squad. Injuries are worrisome but we have enough fire power to hold off challenges in the next couple of weeks.

Ok? So what I don't get is that there are 3 key players still out there who we've been rumored with in the past, namely Veloso, Matuidi, and why am I forgetting the third now while I'm writing this?

Anyway, the rumored players must be able to be had for around 10 mill.
Heck, I can't believe that Sakho as CB is even that expensive? Would be perfect cover in the back line? ugh...

I would back getting Sakho, he would make a quality backup and would fill in nicely in a couple of years. Johan and Sahko as the second string wouldn't be bad as Gavin Hoyte isn't ready yet to be relied on in the prem

Wenger won't spend that much on a backup CB.
